D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for an AI Solution Architect. As the nation's largest homebuilder by volume, D.R. Horton is transforming how it uses data, AI, and digital solutions for the next generation of homebuilding, and we pair the reach of a national enterprise with a culture built on local ownership, practical innovation, and deep business partnerships. Our teams focus on solutions that work in the field and deliver real results, not technology for its own sake. In this role, you'll have a critical opportunity to shape modern capabilities that will influence how the company operates for years to come.
The AI Solution Architect (also known as AI Solution / Data Architect) will help define how modern data and AI capabilities come together in secure, scalable, and reusable solutions. This hands-on architecture role will translate business problems into solution patterns, guide critical design decisions, and connect data, applications, integration, security, and AI services into production-ready architectures. The ideal candidate can move comfortably between strategy, architecture, and implementation while helping teams build for both today's needs and tomorrow's possibilities. This role focuses on solution-level architecture for specific products and use cases, working within the enterprise standards set by the Principal Enterprise Platform Architect. Success in this role means priority solutions ship on reusable, well-documented architectures that teams can extend, with design decisions made quickly and tradeoffs understood by business and technical leaders alike.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Translate business and product requirements into end-to-end solution architectures covering data, AI, APIs, applications, identity, security, observability, and support
- Define domain data models, data flows, integration patterns, semantic access, RAG/knowledge patterns, and AI service interactions
- Ensure priority solutions align to enterprise reference architectures while documenting justified exceptions and local configuration needs
- Lead technical design sessions and architecture reviews with engineering, platform, security, governance, vendors, and business subject-matter experts (SMEs)
- Evaluate solution alternatives and communicate tradeoffs in speed, complexity, cost, security, scalability, and maintainability
- Represent the function in cross-functional discovery, architecture, governance, operational-readiness, and continuous-improvement activities as appropriate
- Stay current on relevant data, AI, digital, software, and industry practices and apply new capabilities when they create practical business value
- Identify, shape, and pilot new opportunities where data, AI, and digital capabilities can create business value, operating with an owner's mindset and a bias toward building, testing, and learning quickly
- Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner
- Ability to travel overnight
