Y Combinator Algorithm Engineer
Summary
Design and implement path-planning, multi-agent coordination, and decision-making algorithms for Archer’s all-electric eVTOL aircraft using C++ and Python.
Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers while producing minimal noise.

Note: This role must be based onsite in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
What you'll do:
- Develop and mature mission planning, multi-platform coordination, and onboard decision-making algorithms
- Design and implement path and motion planning algorithms for single- and multi-agent systems
- Develop optimization and decision-making approaches for operation under uncertainty
- Integrate algorithms with the broader onboard software stack
- Validate system behaviors through simulation and field testing
- Collaborate with perception, navigation, and integration teams to field robust multi-agent systems
What you need:
- Strong proficiency in C++ and Python
- Experience with path/motion planning algorithms
- Experience with multi-agent or distributed coordination algorithms
- Experience with optimization and decision-making under uncertainty
- Experience with ROS 2
Bonus Qualifications:
- Experience fielding multi-agent systems on real hardware
- Background in subscale aircraft, robotics, or autonomy applications
- Experience with simulation environments for multi-agent testing
