Senior Benefits Analyst – H&W and Retirement

Summary/Objective

The Senior Benefits Analyst is responsible for administering all retirement plans and retiree benefits. The Senior Benefits Analyst also provides back up support to the Senior Benefits Analyst – Health and Welfare and Disability applications. This position requires excellent customer service skills with a desire to interact with employees daily. The ideal candidate will enjoy working closely with their teammates with the desire to provide the best service possible to the STP team.

Essential Functions

Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments and eligibility in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information. Assists with new-hire orientations. Performs quality checks of benefits-related data enrollments, contributions and eligibility. Assists employees regarding retirement issues, retirement planning, and plan changes. Prepares and distributes all retirement plan information and legally required notices. Ensures that all retirement plan census data is accurate and that timely preparation of data for vendors, actuaries and finance is prepared accurately and on a timely basis. Performs duties as a subject matter expert in retirement plan management and administration and has in depth knowledge of laws and regulations required to maintain compliance with all retirement plans. Understands retirement plan funding requirements and can engage with finance and actuaries to discuss funding requirements. Assists in managing retiree health and welfare benefits ensuring accuracy of enrollments, contribution rates and financial reporting. Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries. Assists with the open enrollment process including communications, group meetings and one-to-one discussions with managers and employees. Provides necessary reports for allocation/billing charges. Ensures reports and prepared accurately and on time. Works closely with finance, external vendors and actuaries and auditors to provide information and data to support accurate and timely reporting. Gather, organize and present information to plan fiduciaries Support annual financial and tax reporting, prepare for plan audits and calculate retirement plan contributions Oversight of the annual audit, ADP/ACP testing and 5500 filing process. Facilitate resolution for retirement plan related customer service issues and administrative errors. Conduct periodic audits to ensure accurate data contained in HRIS and vendor systems. Organization of periodic Benefits Trust Committee (BTC) meetings. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor and/or HR Manager/Director

This position has no supervision responsibilities.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office setting. The employee must be able to obtain and maintain unescorted access in a nuclear plant.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Standard days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, 07:00 to 17:30.

Travel

Local and regional travel to attend meetings is required. Occasional overnight travel may be required for meetings and training.

Required Education and Experience

Associate degree in HR or related field, but experience and/or other training/certification may be substituted for the education. Four to six years of experience in Retirement Plans Administration Subject Matter Expert level understanding of laws and regulations regarding retirements plans, discrimination testing and funding requirements. Ability to actively engage with legal counsel, finance, 401(k) providers and actuaries at a Subject Matter Expert level to discuss plan matters. Excellent verbal and written skills necessary in order to communicate intricate job-related processes to internal and external customers Demonstrated ability to accurately and timely prepare periodic reconciliations of financial transactions and accounts Ability to establish project plans, regularly monitor and track progress on work projects, and communicate with project partners Ability to streamline processes, integrate, and associate pieces of information gathered from multiple sources and apply to projects

Preferred Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in business, human resources or related field of study. PHR or SHRM-CP Certification CEBS Certification Three to five years of benefits experience with an emphasis in managing H&W and retirement plans. Subject Matter Expert level understanding of laws and regulations regarding retirements plans, discrimination testing and funding requirements. Ability to actively engage with legal counsel, finance, benefit providers and actuaries at a Subject Matter Expert level to discuss plan matters. Experience with investment analysis and financial concepts as applied to retirement plans and health and welfare plans Meeting Management Experience

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Demonstrated experience with MS Office products, particularly Excel.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable)

Obtain and maintain unescorted access in a nuclear plant.
