Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Index Research & Corporate Actions Analyst to support the analysis and execution of global index-related investment strategies. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of index methodologies, index rebalances, and corporate actions, with at least three years of experience analyzing index corporate actions across both the Asia-Pacific (“APAC”) and Europe, Middle East, and Africa (“EMEA”) regions.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Build, enhance, and maintain index forecasting and prediction-model infrastructure using Python, Factset, Refinitiv and Excel.
- Monitor and analyze index corporate actions, including mergers and acquisitions, IPOs, dual listings, share-class changes, spin-offs, and other events affecting index constituents.
- Analyze the impact of corporate actions on index composition, weightings, implementation schedules, and trading requirements.
- Review and recommend changes to index methodologies and classification frameworks, including country and sector reclassifications.
- Develop investment views and trading recommendations based on index corporate actions, index changes, and market structure developments.
- Research and manage emerging trends in index tracking, including the impact of passive investment flows and new sources of index-linked capital.
- Identify, evaluate, and execute global index rebalance and index arbitrage strategies.
- Monitor index-provider announcements, consultation papers, methodology changes, and rebalancing calendars.
- Communicate effectively with index providers, industry contacts, brokers, and sell-side research teams.
- Collaborate with investment professionals and trading teams to translate index research into actionable investment opportunities.
- Maintain accurate documentation, models, databases, and internal reporting relating to index events and corporate actions.
Qualifications and Requirements
- At least three years of experience in index rebalances, index arbitrage, or a related field.
- At least three years of hands-on experience analyzing index corporate actions across both APAC and EMEA markets.
- At least three years of experience analyzing corporate actions such as mergers and acquisitions, IPOs etc.
- Experience working with Python, Excel, Factset and Reinfinitiv
- Strong knowledge of global equity indices, index methodologies, index construction, and rebalance mechanics.
- A master’s degree or MBA in Finance, Financial Engineering, Economics, Statistics, or another quantitative field is preferred.
- Demonstrated ownership, leadership, and high achievement, with a track record of raising the standard of those around you.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritise effectively and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Ability to identify, flag, and resolve potential issues at an early stage.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex index and corporate-action topics clearly.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with investment, trading, and research teams.
