Summary
Android BSP engineer who builds and maintains platform software for Android devices: customizing the AOSP build, bootloader and kernel work, Linux device drivers, HALs, and SELinux policies, plus bringing up peripherals on Qualcomm/NXP/Rockchip/MediaTek SoCs. On-site in Ahmedabad, with mentoring of junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, integrate, and maintain BSP components for Android platforms.
- Set up and customize the AOSP build system (Soong/Blueprint, Make) and device/vendor trees.
- Work on the Android boot flow: bootloader (ABL/U-Boot/LK), kernel, init, and init.rc.
- Develop Linux kernel device drivers and author Device Tree files.
- Develop Android HALs (AIDL/HIDL) and work with Project Treble, VNDK, and GKI.
- Write and debug SELinux policies.
- Bring up peripherals: display, touch, camera, audio, sensors, USB, Wi-Fi/BT.
- Debug using adb, fastboot, logcat, dmesg, ftrace, and systrace/Perfetto, and analyze kernel panics and tombstones.
- Work on SoC platforms such as Qualcomm, NXP, Rockchip, or MediaTek.
- Use Git/Gerrit for source management and code reviews.
- Mentor junior engineers and collaborates with QA and hardware teams.
Required Skills
- Strong C and working knowledge of C++.
- AOSP build system and device/vendor tree setup.
- Android boot flow (bootloader, kernel, init, init.rc).
- Linux kernel device driver development and Device Tree.
- Android HAL development (AIDL/HIDL), Project Treble, VNDK, GKI.
- SELinux policy writing and debugging.
- Peripherals bring-up (display, touch, camera, audio, sensors, USB, Wi-Fi/BT).
- Debugging with adb, fastboot, logcat, dmesg, ftrace, and systrace/Perfetto, plus kernel panic/tombstone analysis.
- Hands-on experience with SoC platforms (Qualcomm / NXP / Rockchip / MediaTek).
- Git/Gerrit.
- Good English communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.

- Power management (suspend/resume, DVFS, thermal).
- OTA / A/B updates and verified boot (AVB).
- CTS / VTS compliance.
- JTAG / Lauterbach (T32) debugging.
- Android version upgrades and kernel uprev.
- Basics of Jenkins.
