Android Developer for Automotive Project

The international Luxoft Automotive team is looking for an experienced Android Developer to contribute to the development of next-generation In-Vehicle Infotainment systems for Italian OEM based on Android Automotive OS. The role involves developing and maintaining Android applications and selected framework-level components within AAOS/AOSP environments, with a focus on high-quality user experience, performance, stability, and seamless integration with vehicle functions. Automotive experience in the IVI or IVP development is mandatory (e.g car services functionalities, in-vehicle features, ADAS, or functionality enabling integration between vehicle IVI systems and smartphones via USB, Wi Fi, or Bluetooth is a strong advantage). Required candidate has solid hands-on experience in Android application development using Kotlin as a main development language, understands Android platform fundamentals, and must have background of automotive software delivery environment based on the ASPICE processes. Work experience with QT is required due to the availability of ICL in the scope of project work.

Responsibilities

• - Develop and maintain Android applications for automotive infotainment systems using Kotlin and Java. - Develop ICL functionality using the Qt framework, in line with project scope and requirements. - Implement client-specific features using scripting languages. - Work with Customer requirements (analysis, clarification, implementation) according to the project scope and plan. - Implement new features and adapt existing applications in the AAOS/AOSP-based platforms. - Collaborate with system engineers, product owners, UX/UI designers, QA, and integration teams to deliver end-to-end functionality. - Work with Android framework and platform components to implement customer requirements on the application-level. - Analyze, debug, and resolve software defects, performance issues, and integration problems. - Participate in code reviews, design discussions, unit testing development, and documentation preparation activities based on the project specific processes. - Support software integration, verification, and validation activities in CI environments and vehicle setups.

SKILLS

Must have

• - Experience with Android (Kotlin/Java) - Experience with QT - Scripting languages: Python, Bash, Lua - Flutter, Dart - 5+ years in Automotive - Deep AAOS architecture knowledge (Car Service, VHAL, system apps) - Expert-level Android knowledge including system internals - Expertise in performance tuning, concurrency, and optimization - Experience with AOSP build system (Soong/Bazel) - Experience with Git-based version control, Jenkins and code review practices. - Ability to analyze logs and debug issues using logcat, adb, dumpsys, profilers, and related tools. - Experience working in Linux-based development environments. - Good understanding of software quality practices, including unit testing, integration testing, static analysis, and CI/CD workflows. - Good English communication skills and ability to work effectively in distributed, cross-functional teams. - Location is Bucharest and work from office is mandatory due to the day-to-day work with project specific HW.
