Description

Job Summary :

We are looking for a Mid-Level Android Developer who can contribute to Native Android Application Development and Product-UX Testing.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience developing Android applications using Kotlin, Android SDK, Jetpack Compose, XML, Android Studio, and modern Android architecture.

In addition, the candidate should have a strong understanding of product usability, user flows, UX testing, accessibility, and identifying usability issues from an end-user perspective.

The candidate should be comfortable working independently, understanding existing applications, developing new features, testing complete user journeys, identifying product issues, and providing actionable feedback to improve the overall user experience.

Willingness to work during EST (Eastern Standard Time) business hours is preferred but not mandatory.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Android Development :

- Design, develop, maintain, and enhance native Android applications using Kotlin.

- Develop modern Android UI using Jetpack Compose and Material 3.

- Work with existing XML-based layouts and Android Views.

- Implement application features based on business, technical, and product requirements.

- Develop responsive and accessible UI for different screen sizes and Android devices.

- Integrate REST APIs and backend services.

- Work with Retrofit, Coroutines, Flow, Room, and DataStore.

- Follow MVVM and Clean Architecture principles.

- Write clean, reusable, maintainable, and testable code.

- Debug and resolve application crashes, UI issues, performance issues, and functional defects.

- Write and maintain unit tests and UI/automated tests.

- Integrate and maintain third-party SDKs and libraries.

- Work with Firebase and other required Android services.

- Troubleshoot issues across different Android versions, devices, and screen sizes.

- Use Git and Gradle effectively for development and build management.

- Collaborate with backend developers, QA engineers, UI/UX designers, and product teams.

- Participate in code reviews and follow development best practices.

- Prepare Android builds for QA, staging, and production releases.

- Support application releases through Google Play Console.

- Analyze and resolve production issues when required.

- Stay updated with current Android SDK, Kotlin, Jetpack, and Compose developments.

2. Product & User Experience Testing :

- Test the product from an actual end-user perspective, not only from a technical or functional perspective.

- Understand complete user journeys, workflows, and business processes within the application.

- Perform hands-on UX and usability testing of applications and related product flows.

- Identify usability issues, confusing workflows, inconsistent UI behavior, and unnecessary user interactions.

- Verify whether features are intuitive and easy for users to understand and operate.

- Test complete workflows rather than testing individual screens in isolation.

- Perform exploratory testing to identify issues that may not be covered by predefined test cases.

- Validate the application across different devices, screen sizes, and versions.

- Identify inconsistencies between the expected product behavior and the actual user experience.

- Review new features from a product usability perspective before release.

- Provide clear, actionable feedback to developers, QA, product managers, and UI/UX designers.

- Document UX issues with clear steps, screenshots, expected behavior, actual behavior, and suggested improvements where appropriate.

- Identify potential usability problems before they reach production.

- Participate in product discussions and provide technical and UX feedback during feature development.

- Understand basic UX/UI principles and usability standards.

- Apply accessibility considerations when reviewing user interfaces.

- Verify that product changes do not negatively affect existing user journeys.

- Perform regression testing of critical user workflows when required.

Technical Skills :

- Strong hands-on experience with Kotlin, Android SDK, Jetpack Compose, XML layouts, and Android Views.

- Knowledge of MVVM, Clean Architecture, Coroutines, Flow, Retrofit, Room Database, and DataStore.

- Experience with Firebase, third-party Android SDKs, Git, Gradle, and Android Studio.

- Experience writing unit and UI/automated tests.

- Understanding of Android application lifecycle, state management, and Google Play Console release processes.

Soft Skills :

- Strong problem-solving, analytical skills, and attention to detail.

- Ability to think from both a developer's and end-user's perspective.

- Good communication, collaboration, and independent working skills.

- Strong ownership of assigned features and user journeys.

Experience :

- 2 - 4 years of professional Android development experience.

- Hands-on experience with UX/usability testing and working with cross-functional teams is preferred.
