Application Architect
Summary
An enterprise application architect in Doha who defines and governs application architecture for GTA — maintaining portfolio views, reference architectures and rationalisation roadmaps, and reviewing solution designs with solution, data, security and integration teams. Core focus areas: TOGAF/ArchiMate, API-led integration, application lifecycle management, modernisation and cloud adoption.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Application Architect
Role Purpose
Define, govern and evolve the enterprise application architecture to ensure applications, integrations, dataexchanges and technology choices support GTA business capabilities, digital strategy and targetarchitecture. The role provides architecture direction for application modernisation, solution design andportfolio rationalisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the application portfolio, application architecture views, referencearchitectures and lifecycle roadmaps.
- Assess application fit, health, technical debt, duplication, integration dependencies and alignmentto business capabilities.
- Define target-state application architecture, application rationalisation recommendations andtransition roadmaps.
- Review solution designs, architecture documents and non-functional requirements for compliancewith EA principles and standards.
- Work with solution, data, infrastructure, security and integration teams to ensure coherent end-to-end designs.
- Establish traceability between business capabilities, processes, applications, data entities,interfaces and technology components.
- Support application modernisation, cloud adoption, package selection and migration initiatives witharchitecture guidance.
- Contribute to architecture governance, design reviews, exceptions management, standards and EArepository quality.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
Experience
At least 5 years of relevant experience in application architecture, solutionarchitecture, systems analysis/design, application portfolio management, ora closely related role.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, SoftwareEngineering, or a related discipline.
Certification
TOGAF certification is required or strongly preferred. ArchiMate, cloudarchitecture, integration, ITIL, or relevant platform certifications areadvantageous.
TechnicalBackground
Experience with enterprise applications, APIs/integrations, applicationlifecycle management and modernisation is required.
Required Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of application architecture patterns, API-led integration, service-orienteddesign and application lifecycle management.
- Practical knowledge of TOGAF and ArchiMate application-layer modelling; ability to createactionable architecture views.
- Experience assessing application portfolios, technical debt, application health, fit-for-purpose andrationalisation opportunities.
- Familiarity with cloud, security, data and integration considerations in enterprise solution design.
- Strong stakeholder-management, analytical, documentation and design-review skills.
