An enterprise application architect who defines and governs the application architecture portfolio — assessing application fit and technical debt, setting target-state architecture and rationalisation roadmaps, and reviewing solution designs. Role PurposeDefine, govern and evolve the enterprise application architecture to ensure applications, integrations, data exchanges and technology choices support GTA business capabilities, digital strategy and target architecture. The role provides architecture direction for application modernisation, solution design and portfolio rationalisation.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain the application portfolio, application architecture views, reference architectures and lifecycle roadmaps.
- Assess application fit, health, technical debt, duplication, integration dependencies and alignment to business capabilities.
- Define target-state application architecture, application rationalisation recommendations and transition roadmaps.
- Review solution designs, architecture documents and non-functional requirements for compliance with EA principles and standards.
- Work with solution, data, infrastructure, security and integration teams to ensure coherent end-to-end designs.
- Establish traceability between business capabilities, processes, applications, data entities, interfaces and technology components.
- Support application modernisation, cloud adoption, package selection and migration initiatives with architecture guidance.
- Contribute to architecture governance, design reviews, exceptions management, standards and EA repository quality.
At least 5 years of relevant experience in application architecture, solution architecture, systems analysis/design, application portfolio management, or a closely related role.
EducationBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
CertificationTOGAF certification is required or strongly preferred. ArchiMate, cloud architecture, integration, ITIL, or relevant platform certifications are advantageous.
Technical BackgroundExperience with enterprise applications, APIs/integrations, application lifecycle management and modernisation is required.

Required Knowledge & Skills- Strong understanding of application architecture patterns, API-led integration, service-oriented design and application lifecycle management.
- Practical knowledge of TOGAF and ArchiMate application-layer modelling; ability to create actionable architecture views.
- Experience assessing application portfolios, technical debt, application health, fit-for-purpose and rationalisation opportunities.
- Familiarity with cloud, security, data and integration considerations in enterprise solution design.
