The appointee will provide comprehensive technical and research engineering support to the Project Investigators in the execution of projects focused on further developing the digital architecture and applications for music platforms. The appointee will also have to support Project Investigators in conducting research for the project, evaluate project effectiveness, design and conduct user experiments, and provide technical assistance to the project team.

The job duties include but are not limited to designing, developing, and optimizing cross-platform applications (iOS, Android, and web-based applications) and administrative management portals; implementing core music technology architectures, including MusicXML parsing and rendering, dynamic grid notation, and standard 5-line staff notation; integrating AI-generated music workflows and notation pipelines; processing and enhancing sound libraries for high-fidelity audio playback and real-time recording; supporting research activities such as data collection, analysis, and summaries; setting up and maintaining the project architecture; preparing reports and meeting documents; monitoring project spending and expenditure; coordinating with internal and external parties; supervising student helpers; and undertaking any other duties assigned by the PIs. The successful applicants will have an appointment duration of 18 months.

Applicants should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Music Technology, Information Technology, or a related discipline, with 3–5 years of relevant work experience in software application development. Candidates with experience in audio engine development, MusicXML/MIDI processing, mobile app frameworks, or web audio integration will have a distinct advantage. All applicants should have proficiency in English and Chinese (including Cantonese and Putonghua), strong attention to detail, self-motivation, excellent communication and organisational skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. A high level of computer literacy is essential. Knowledge in IT, software development, and music-related areas will be an advantage.
