Army Aviation Quality Manager
Principal accountabilities
Develops, applies, revises and implements quality assurance plans and audits for products to ensure product quality targets are met. Maintains quality standards for receiving, in-process and final inspection in accordance with company and contractual requirements.
Reviews, revises and/or writes QA/QC quality assurance procedures. Establishes, defines, implements, maintains, and reports on quality assurance key performance measures and standards. Performs root cause analysis, implements corrective actions, and monitors progress and improvements.
Drives continuous improvement through communication and training on quality standards, requirements, and best practices.
Implements and manages the QA/QC program.
Ensures performance and quality of assigned QA/QC function conforms to established standards and governmental agency guidelines to ensure lasting customer satisfaction.
Audits procedural elements of program management.
Coordinates collection of responses to customer Corrective Action Response (CAR).
Works directly with operating entities to ensure inspections, statistical process analyses, and audits are conducted on a continuing basis as specified to enforce requirements and meet specifications.
Consults with local management in determining best measures of project efficiency.
Conducts and directs internal management audits, prepares formal audit reports, and defines audit schedules.
Consults with local management in determining root causes for non-conformances to QA/QC plan and to customer contractual requirements.
Implements the Process Improvement Program.
Assesses contractual requirements, develops and maintains checklists, and communicates within QA/QC function.
Performs other qualified duties as assigned.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
Minimum requirements
Eight (8) or more years of quality manager experience with at least two (2) years in an aviation QA/QC capacity and with two (2) years in a managerial role.
Bachelor’s degree; may substitute two (2) additional years of experience for each year of college.
With a master’s degree - five (5) years of relevant experience with bachelor’s degree; three (3) years of relevant experience with master’s degree.
Additional knowledge and skills may be required by assignment or contract.
Advanced understanding of QA/QC approaches, methods, management, and responsibilities.
Knowledge of statistical methods, ISO 9000 standard, Lean Six Sigma, and other quality methodologies.
A valid US passport is required for deployment to Kuwait.
Must be able to obtain Kuwait PCC and visa.
Must be able to pass CENTCOM medical requirements to attend CRC for deployment.
Security clearance requirements
Must be able to obtain and maintain a US government security clearance (NAC-I T1) public trust. Must be able to obtain facility credentials and authorization to work at this location. US citizenship is required for facility credentials and authorization at the work location.
Knowledge and skills required
Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
Build good working relationships with task order leadership and actively participate in management process.
Develop staff and determine best methods for performance enhancement.
Ability to effectively and efficiently supervise and manage quality personnel.
Ability to work with personnel at all levels to effectively and efficiently manage the program QC plan.
Additional knowledge and skills may be required by assignment or contract.
Physical requirements / working environment
Living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable.
Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions.
