AS 400 Software Engineer

We are looking for an experienced AS/400 (IBM iSeries) Software Engineer to design, develop, debug, and support applications on the IBM i platform. The candidate will work across the complete software development lifecycle, including analysis, design, coding, testing, deployment, and production support.

Mandatory Skills

• RPGLE, RPG/400, CLLE, and CL/400
• Synon or CA2E Any one is mandatory
• Strong knowledge of ILE concepts
• Proficiency in DB2 and SQL
• Experience with AS/400 development tools:
• SEU
• SDA
• RLU
• PDM
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills
• Understanding of unit testing and test-case design
• Good communication skills

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance applications on the AS/400 (IBM i) platform using RPGLE, RPG/400, CLLE, and CL/400.
• Design and modify programs, display files, and report files based on changing business and database requirements.
• Develop and maintain applications using Synon or CA2E.
• Query and analyze DB2 data using SQL to investigate issues and identify solutions.
• Perform debugging, root-cause analysis, and production issue resolution.
• Participate in unit testing, integration testing, and defect resolution.
• Provide application support and ensure adherence to client SLAs.
• Collaborate with QA, business, and technical teams throughout the development lifecycle.
• Prepare technical documentation and support production deployments.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in manual/functional testing is an added advantage.
• Exposure to production support and SLA-driven environments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work effectively with development, QA, and business teams.
