Assistant Manager - AML Transaction Monitoring
Job Purpose: To support the MLRO function in executing Mashreq Digital Bank Pakistan’s AML Transaction Monitoring and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) framework by reviewing alerts, conducting investigations, and ensuring compliance with SBP AML/CFT/CPF Regulations and Mashreq Group standards.
Key Result Areas
Risk Mitigation
Review and analyze alerts generated by AML Transaction Monitoring systems for retail and business banking customers.
Conduct initial investigations, gather supporting documentation, and determine alert disposition in line with internal SOPs.
Escalate potential suspicious activity to Senior Manager for STR/SAR consideration.
Ensure timely completion of alerts within defined SLAs and maintain quality standards.
Assist in periodic tuning and testing of AML scenarios and thresholds.
Support implementation of new monitoring scenarios, including country-specific risk indicators.
Perform periodic and event-driven CDD reviews for high-risk customers, including PEPs and DNFBPs.
Validate source of funds and source of wealth documentation as part of Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD).
Ensure CDD records are complete, accurate, and updated in line with SBP regulations and Mashreq Group standards.
Liaise with Business and Operations teams to obtain additional information required for CDD reviews.
Processes
Review and disposition Transaction Monitoring alerts in accordance with approved procedures, risk-based methodology, and defined service level agreements.
Perform customer activity analysis by reviewing account behavior, transactional patterns, KYC information, and supporting documentation.
Maintain complete and accurate case records, investigation notes, and audit trails within the designated case management system.
Coordinate with Business, Operations, Customer Service, and Technology teams to obtain information required for investigations and CDD reviews.
Support identification of emerging financial crime risks and provide recommendations for enhancement of monitoring rules and controls.
Assist in the preparation of management information (MI), regulatory data requests, and periodic reporting relating to AML investigations and CDD activities.
Ensure timely escalation of unusual or suspicious activity in accordance with internal reporting and governance procedures.
Contribute to system testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), scenario tuning exercises, and implementation of AML monitoring enhancements.
Governance
Ensure adherence to SBP AML/CFT/CPF Regulations and Mashreq Group AML policies.
Participate in internal reviews and audits related to AML and CDD processes.
Contribute to process improvements and compliance projects as assigned.

Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field.
Preferably CAMS certified.
3–4 years of experience in AML Transaction Monitoring and CDD reviews.
