Assistant Manager - Horticulture

Horticulture & Landscape Management

  • Plan, develop, and maintain landscaped areas, gardens, lawns, medians, and green belts across the port premises.
  • Ensure healthy growth and maintenance of trees, shrubs, flowering plants, and ornamental vegetation.
  • Develop seasonal plantation programs and beautification initiatives for port infrastructure.
  • Monitor plant health and implement corrective measures for disease, pest, and nutrient management.

Maintenance & Operations

  • Supervise day-to-day horticulture operations, including pruning, watering, mowing, trimming, and replantation activities.
  • Ensure optimum functioning of irrigation systems and water conservation practices.
  • Conduct routine inspections of landscaped areas and take proactive measures to maintain greenery standards.
  • Maintain inventory of plants, fertilizers, pesticides, tools, and horticultural equipment.

Environmental Sustainability

  • Support environmental sustainability initiatives through plantation drives and green cover enhancement programs.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to plantation and green belt development.
  • Promote eco-friendly landscaping practices and efficient utilization of natural resources.

Vendor & Contractor Management

  • Manage horticulture contractors, gardeners, and outsourced workforce.
  • Monitor contractor performance and ensure adherence to scope, quality, safety, and timelines.
  • Verify bills, maintain records, and ensure contractual compliance.

Planning & Budget Management

  • Prepare annual horticulture maintenance plans and budgets.
  • Monitor expenditure and ensure cost optimization without compromising landscape quality.
  • Recommend innovative landscaping solutions and sustainability measures.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure safe handling and storage of fertilizers, pesticides, and gardening equipment.
  • Adhere to organizational HSE standards and statutory requirements.
  • Maintain documentation related to horticulture activities, plantation records, and compliance reports.

Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor's Degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, Forestry, Landscape Management, or related discipline.
  • Master's Degree in Horticulture or Landscape Management will be preferred.

Experience

  • 5-8 years of experience in horticulture, landscaping, green belt development, or facility management.
  • Experience in industrial plants, ports, SEZs, airports, townships, or large infrastructure projects preferred.
