About the Role

The Assistant Manager, Tax Data Management & Innovation (TDMI), supports the execution, sustainment, and continuous improvement of Disney’s tax technology and data strategy. This role operates at the intersection of tax, data, and technology and helps deliver practical, scalable solutions that improve data quality, reduce manual effort, and support transformation across Corporate Tax.

This position will provide hands-on support for key tax platforms and data processes, including ONESOURCE DataFlow, ONESOURCE Data Hub, ONESOURCE Tax Provision, Vertex, Alteryx workflows, Power Platform solutions, dashboards, SharePoint, and related integrations.

The Assistant Manager will partner with Tax, Finance, IT, vendors, and TDMI team members to support system enhancements, testing, issue resolution, documentation, controls, and reporting needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Platform Support & Sustainment:
    • Support day-to-day sustainment activities for TDMI tax technology platforms, including ONESOURCE DataFlow, Data Hub, Tax Provision, Vertex, Alteryx, Power Platform, reporting tools, and related tax applications.
    • Assist with configuration, testing, release validation, defect tracking, and user support activities under the direction of the Manager, TDMI.
    • Triage corporate tax technology support tickets, perform initial root-cause analysis, document findings, and escalate complex issues to senior team members, IT, or external vendors as needed.

  • Data Management & Validation:
    • Prepare, load, transform, reconcile, and validate tax data used in provision, compliance, reporting, and indirect tax processes.
    • Perform data quality checks, exception analysis, tie-outs, and issue follow-up to support accuracy and consistency across tax systems and upstream ERP integrations.
    • Maintain data mapping, process documentation, validation evidence, and repeatable workpapers that support reliable close and compliance cycles.

  • Automation, Reporting & Process Improvement:
    • Build, maintain, and enhance automation workflows, dashboards, and operational tools using approved TDMI technologies such as Alteryx, Power Platform, Python, SQL, Tableau, Power BI, and SharePoint.
    • Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort, improve transparency, and increase process reliability across Corporate Tax.
    • Support the transition of manual or spreadsheet-based processes into controlled, scalable, and supportable technology solutions.

  • Project Execution & Cross-Functional Support:
    • Support requirements gathering, design reviews, user acceptance testing, deployment activities, hyper care, and post-implementation stabilization for tax technology projects.
    • Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders across Tax, Finance, Controllership, IT, and vendors to track tasks, resolve open items, and support milestone delivery.
    • Help prepare status updates, project documentation, testing evidence, training materials, and support materials for impacted users.

  • Governance, Controls & Compliance:
    • Ensure tax systems and data processes adhere to internal controls and compliance requirements.
    • Support user access governance, data validation, and audit readiness.
    • Maintain documentation of systems, processes, and controls.

Requirements:

  • 4 to 7 years of relevant experience in tax, finance technology, data management, analytics, automation, or system support roles.
  • Working knowledge of income tax, indirect tax, tax accounting, or finance processes, with the ability to learn complex tax data flows.
  • Experience supporting enterprise systems, ERP integrations, or tax platforms such as SAP, ONESOURCE, Vertex, or similar applications.
  • Hands-on experience with automation, reporting, data or ETL tools such as Alteryx, Power Platform, Power BI, Tableau, Python, SQL, SharePoint, Microsoft Fabric, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with AI and machine learning tools — such as Microsoft Copilot, Claude or equivalent
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to investigate data issues, document findings, and recommend practical resolutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively across Tax, Finance, IT, and vendor teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate technical issues into business terms.
  • Preferred:
    • CPA, CMI, CA, technology certification, or progress toward a relevant professional certification.
    • Experience with large-scale finance or tax transformation initiatives.
    • Exposure to tax data architecture, data pipelines, integrations, dashboards, or analytics platforms.
    • Experience supporting controls, user access governance, audit requests, or SOX-relevant technology processes.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field.
