About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and technically strong Assistant Product Manager to support the Product Manager in managing the complete product development lifecycle across backend systems, frontend web applications, mobile applications, and UI/UX design.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of software architecture, product requirements, user experience, quality assurance, and Agile project management. This person will serve as a central coordination point between the Product Manager, backend developers, frontend developers, mobile developers, UI/UX designers, QA engineers, and technical leads.

The candidate must be capable of translating business objectives into detailed technical and functional requirements, coordinating cross-functional teams, monitoring delivery progress, and ensuring that product features meet business expectations and quality standards.

This is a fully remote position requiring excellent communication, independent decision-making within assigned responsibilities, and the ability to coordinate distributed teams effectively.

Key Responsibilities

1. Product Strategy and Requirements Management

  • Assist the Product Manager in translating business objectives and product strategy into actionable development plans.
  • Gather, analyze, validate, and document functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain Product Requirement Documents (PRDs), user stories, use cases, process flows, and acceptance criteria.
  • Break down complex product requirements into epics, features, and development tasks.
  • Maintain the product backlog and coordinate prioritization with the Product Manager.
  • Identify requirement gaps, dependencies, risks, and opportunities for product improvement.
  • Facilitate requirement discussions with stakeholders and technical teams.
  • Maintain a clear record of product decisions, scope changes, and approvals.

2. Backend Systems and API Coordination

  • Work closely with backend developers and technical leads to define backend functionality and business logic.
  • Understand REST APIs, GraphQL, databases, microservices, authentication, authorization, and third-party integrations.
  • Document API requirements, data structures, validation rules, error handling, and integration dependencies.
  • Ensure backend requirements align with frontend and mobile application needs.
  • Coordinate the implementation of business rules, permissions, payment integrations, notifications, and other backend capabilities.
  • Identify technical dependencies and escalate architecture or implementation concerns to the appropriate technical leads.

3. Frontend Web Application Management

  • Define and coordinate requirements for web applications, admin dashboards, business portals, and customer-facing interfaces.
  • Document user journeys, page behavior, navigation, form validation, responsive layouts, and role-based access requirements.
  • Ensure frontend implementations align with approved designs, product specifications, and backend APIs.
  • Review completed features against acceptance criteria and identify gaps.
  • Coordinate consistency across user-facing applications and administrative interfaces.

4. Mobile Application Product Management

  • Coordinate product requirements for Android and iOS applications.
  • Understand mobile application architecture, navigation, API integration, authentication, push notifications, permissions, and app release processes.
  • Define screen-level requirements, mobile user flows, edge cases, and expected application behavior.
  • Ensure consistency between mobile applications and web-based product functionality.
  • Account for device compatibility, operating system differences, offline scenarios, performance, and error handling.
  • Coordinate feature testing, bug resolution, release documentation, and deployment readiness.

5. UI/UX Design and Design Review

  • Collaborate with UI/UX designers to translate requirements into wireframes, prototypes, and final interface designs.
  • Prepare detailed design briefs, user flows, screen specifications, and interaction requirements.
  • Review Figma designs to verify that they address business objectives and user needs.
  • Provide structured feedback on usability, accessibility, navigation, responsiveness, and design consistency.
  • Maintain alignment between approved designs, product requirements, and implemented features.
  • Coordinate design handoffs and ensure developers work with the latest approved versions.

6. Quality Assurance and Product Validation

  • Coordinate with QA engineers to ensure complete test coverage for product requirements.
  • Define acceptance criteria and support the preparation of test scenarios and test cases.
  • Participate in functional testing, regression testing, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Maintain a structured bug-tracking process, including severity, priority, reproduction steps, and expected outcomes.
  • Follow up with development teams on unresolved defects and requirement discrepancies.
  • Verify that completed features meet acceptance criteria before recommending them for release.
  • Identify recurring quality issues and recommend process improvements.

7. Cross-Functional Team Coordination

  • Coordinate work across backend, frontend, mobile, UI/UX, and QA teams.
  • Facilitate product discussions, requirement clarification sessions, sprint planning, and review meetings.
  • Track progress, dependencies, milestones, blockers, and delivery risks.
  • Ensure teams understand priorities, requirements, deadlines, and expected deliverables.
  • Work with technical leads to resolve requirement-related issues without interfering with technical ownership.
  • Prepare regular status reports for the Product Manager.
  • Proactively escalate risks, scope changes, and delivery delays.

8. Documentation and Remote Collaboration

  • Maintain comprehensive product documentation using tools such as Jira, Confluence, Notion, or equivalent platforms.

  • Maintain clear and traceable links between requirements, development tasks, test cases, and releases.
  • Communicate effectively with distributed teams across different time zones.
  • Provide written updates on progress, blockers, decisions, and outstanding actions.
