Position Overview
West Coast Trial Lawyers is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to join our growing Employment Law Department. This is an excellent opportunity for a newly licensed attorney or an attorney with up to two years of litigation experience who is looking to develop a long-term career in employment law.
The Associate Attorney will work closely with a Senior Employment Attorney, assisting with all phases of employment litigation, including wage and hour disputes, wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and other employment-related matters. Candidates with prior experience in employment law, workers' compensation, personal injury, or other civil litigation practice areas are encouraged to apply.
This position offers hands-on litigation experience, mentorship, and the opportunity to develop professionally while working on sophisticated employment matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in handling employment litigation matters from inception through resolution.
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, legal memoranda, and correspondence.
- Conduct legal research and prepare written analyses of legal issues.
- Assist with wage and hour litigation and other employment-related matters.
- Prepare for hearings, mediations, arbitrations, depositions, and trial.
- Attend court appearances, depositions, mediations, and client meetings alongside senior attorneys.
- Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and the court.
- Assist in developing litigation strategy under the supervision of senior attorneys.
- Maintain organized case files and ensure compliance with court deadlines.
- Collaborate with attorneys and legal support staff to efficiently manage case progression.
