Associate Software Engineer- Warehouse Operations
General Summary of Position:
The Associate Software Engineer – Warehouse Operations is responsible for developing, supporting, and improving software solutions that enable efficient warehouse, inventory, fulfillment, and logistics operations. This role works closely with software engineering, warehouse operations, product, supply chain, and other Technology teams to automate manual processes, integrate operational systems, improve data accuracy, and provide greater visibility into warehouse activities.

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain applications and services supporting warehouse and logistics operations.
- Develop software solutions that improve inventory management, order fulfillment, receiving, picking, packing, shipping, returns, and device provisioning workflows.
- Build and maintain integrations between warehouse applications and enterprise platforms such as ERP, CRM, inventory management, transportation, and order management systems.
- Develop and consume REST APIs and other system integration interfaces.
- Create automation to reduce manual processes, improve operational efficiency, and minimize data-entry errors.
- Develop tools and applications supporting barcode scanning, asset tracking, serial number management, inventory reconciliation, and warehouse transaction processing.
- Write and maintain SQL queries, database procedures, and data integrations used by warehouse applications and reporting systems.
- Assist with troubleshooting production issues and perform root-cause analysis for software, integration, and data-related problems.
- Monitor application performance, integration health, data quality, and operational workflows.
- Work directly with warehouse and operations teams to understand business processes, identify pain points, and translate operational requirements into technical solutions.
- Participate in software development lifecycle activities including requirements gathering, technical design, development, code review, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Write unit, integration, and automated tests to improve application reliability and reduce regression issues.
- Maintain clear technical documentation for applications, integrations, APIs, workflows, and support procedures.
- Participate in Agile development processes including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Follow established software engineering standards for source control, code review, testing, security, monitoring, and deployment.
- Assist with evaluating and implementing new technologies that can improve warehouse automation and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with senior engineers and technical leads while continuing to develop software engineering and system design skills.
- Provide technical support for warehouse applications and assist operational teams with resolving system-related issues.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement across warehouse software, processes, and system integrations.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- 0–2 years of professional software development experience, including internships, co-op experience, academic projects, or equivalent hands-on development experience.
- Working knowledge of at least one modern programming language such as Python, Java, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar.
- Understanding of software development fundamentals, and common data structures.
- Basic experience working with relational databases and SQL.
- Familiarity with REST APIs, JSON, and application-to-application integrations.
- Experience using source control systems such as Git.
- Understanding of software testing concepts including unit and integration testing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues across applications, databases, APIs, and integrations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly when working with inventory, order, asset, and transactional data.
- Ability to learn new technologies, business processes, and development frameworks quickly.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience developing software for warehouse, logistics, supply chain, manufacturing, fulfillment, or inventory management environments.
- Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Order Management Systems (OMS), or inventory management platforms.
- Experience with barcode scanners, RFID, mobile warehouse devices, label printing, or asset-tracking technologies.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.
- Familiarity with message queues, event-driven architectures, or asynchronous processing.
- Experience developing internal web applications or operational dashboards.
- Familiarity with front-end technologies such as React or similar frameworks.
- Experience with enterprise system integrations, middleware, or integration platforms.
- Familiarity with Salesforce, ConnectWise, MuleSoft, or similar enterprise platforms.
- Experience working with automated testing frameworks.
- Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and application observability tools.
- Exposure to Agile/Scrum software development methodologies.
- Understanding of warehouse concepts including inventory control, receiving, fulfillment, shipping, returns, cycle counting, and serialized asset management.
- Interest in warehouse automation, robotics, IoT, AI-assisted operations, or business process automation.
