The Autonomous Vehicle Systems Manager, leads the development, evaluation, and execution of autonomous vehicle (AV) solutions across Toyota’s material handling portfolio, serving as the primary bridge between sales, engineering, operations, suppliers, and customers. Drives AV strategy, supplier partnerships, technical guidance, solution design, training, standards development, and market adoption while ensuring alignment across Toyota business units and third-party partners. Acts as the subject matter expert for autonomous material handling technologies, supporting scalable, customer-focused solutions that optimize warehouse, manufacturing, and logistics operations.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary liaison between Systems Sales and all autonomous vehicle (AV) opportunities
  • Support early-stage concepting, application discovery, and solution alignment for complex automation opportunities
  • Drive technical discussions, evaluation, onboarding, and support processes for approved 3rd party AV suppliers (Geek+, Raymond, etc.)
  • Establish and maintain strategic relationships with AV manufacturers, software providers, and integration partners
  • Act as the central bridge across all Toyota autonomous vehicle offerings (TAL, Raymond, TMH, TMHE, etc.)
  • Promote a “best tool for the application” approach while prioritizing Toyota OEM solutions whenever applicable
  • Support cross-brand collaboration and visibility between Toyota business units and AV programs
  • Provide technical guidance on AGVs, AMRs, fleet management systems, charging strategies, navigation technologies, and material flow design (RO’s, Systems, Dealers, etc.)
  • Monitor and review acceptance testing criteria and relevant standards
  • Assist sales and engineering teams with AV sizing, vehicle selection, workflows, and conceptual system development
  • Develop scalable standards for AV evaluations, deployments, and supplier qualification
  • Lead dealer, regional office, systems, and customer training initiatives related to AV technologies and applications
  • Create educational content, application guides, standards documentation, competitive comparisons, and internal tools
  • Support development of ROM tools, simulation methodologies, and AV design standards
  • Partner with marketing teams to develop AV messaging, presentations, case studies, videos, trade show content, and technical collateral
  • Support Train and Maintains (TMTs) and strategic innovation initiatives
  • Coordinate AV demonstrations, proof-of-concepts, pilot programs, and customer site visits
  • Track industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive AV solutions to identify strategic opportunities and risks
  • Identify gaps within current Toyota AV offerings and recommend targeted strategic partnerships or product development opportunities in coordination with CD & BD
  • Support development of long-term AV strategy focused on scalability, interoperability, and operational flexibility
  • Represent Toyota AV capabilities at customer meetings, industry events, trade shows, and executive presentations
  • Act as a subject matter expert for autonomous material handling solutions across manufacturing, warehouse, and logistics environments
  • Drive alignment between sales, operations, engineering, innovation, and supplier ecosystems to ensure successful AV program execution

Travel Expectations: 25% - 40% travel to customer sites and Toyota Automated Logistics locations

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of experience in autonomous vehicle sales, integration, or related
  • Strong knowledge of the autonomous vehicle market, pros & cons of various vehicle types, navigation types, fleet management and middleware software packages.
  • Strong understanding of solution development, project execution, and commercial drivers.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Must be eligible to work in the USA long term without sponsorship.
  • Employees must follow all information security policies, protect confidential data, complete required training, and report any suspected security incidents to support our information security controls
