Business Analyst, Data Migration Strategy
About the role
We are transforming our end-to-end Opportunity-to-Cash process, replacing fragmented tools and manual workarounds with a single automated flow. As part of this, Salesforce CPQ and Billing are moving to Salesforce ARM (Revenue Cloud Advanced). Data must migrate from the legacy model, and reporting on our data platform must continue without interruption.
Application teams own the migration within their own systems, while our Data Team coordinates the strategy across them. As a Business Analyst, you will be the Data Team s functional lead, ensuring that the right decisions are surfaced, made, documented, and understood by every affected team before cutover. This is a coordination and documentation role; it does not involve executing the migration or building data pipelines.
What you will do
Establish a common migration framework, including the decision inventory, templates, and documentation standards that all teams use.
Work with product managers and team representatives to understand what is changing, and drive decisions to closure on migration scope (including active versus historical data) and source-to-target mapping.
Plan and facilitate cross-functional workshops, and record outcomes, dependencies, and actions.
Ensure downstream teams, including data and reporting, assess the impact of each decision, and that every impact has a named owner and due date.
Document decisions, mappings, rules, assumptions, and open issues in a single traceable record.
Track each team s build, test, and validation milestones, and align teams on cutover sequencing, reconciliation, and go/no-go criteria.
Maintain the RAID (risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies) log, the dependency map, and status reports for delivery and program leadership.
Business areas you will work across
You will work across the following business areas and their systems: customer accounts (Salesforce); product catalog and pricing (Informatica Product 360); quotes and renewals (Salesforce ARM, replacing CPQ); contracts (Ironclad, DocuSign); orders, billing, and usage (Salesforce ARM, CCP, Metronome); entitlements (CPDS); invoicing and receivables (Esker, Microsoft Dynamics 365); revenue recognition (RevPro); services projects (Certinia); and data and reporting (our data platform). The three analysts will share these areas, with assignments made at onboarding.
Must have
At least 8 years experience as a business analyst, including at least 3 years on data migration, conversion, or system-replacement programs.
Working knowledge of Opportunity-to-Cash processes such as quoting, billing, receivables, or revenue recognition.
Experience defining migration scope, including active versus historical records, retained versus retired entities, and in-flight records at cutover.
Strong facilitation skills, with experience running workshops for business, product, and engineering stakeholders.
Data literacy, including the ability to read data models and document source-to-target mappings and transformation rules.
Disciplined documentation practice and experience coordinating across teams without owning their delivery.
Clear communication with senior stakeholders and comfort working with ambiguity.
Good to have
Knowledge of Salesforce CPQ or Revenue Cloud (ARM), or prior experience with CPQ-to-Revenue Cloud migrations.
Exposure to ERP, revenue recognition, or product master data.
Basic SQL and familiarity with cloud data platforms and with enterprise reporting metrics such as ARR, bookings, and renewals.
Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, and Agile ways of working.
What success looks like
A complete, current decision inventory, with a named owner and date for every decision.
Mappings, rules, and open issues documented and confirmed by the owning teams.
Downstream impacts assessed and owned, and readiness agreed before cutover.
