Back End Developer
Summary
Senior backend engineer (posted by staffing firm Agilus) building financial infrastructure for high-volume, mission-critical transactions, on-site in Toronto 5 days/week. Core stack: Node.js/NestJS, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and GCP (Cloud SQL, Pub/Sub, Cloud Run), with ledger/ledger-systems and payments domain experience.
Work Model: 5 days/week in office

We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join the core engineering team and help build the financial infrastructure powering high-volume, mission-critical transactions.
Must Haves:
- 8+ years of backend engineering experience
- 3+ years of experience in fintech, payments, or financial technology
- Strong experience with Node.js/NestJS, TypeScript & PostgreSQL
- Experience with ledger systems, double-entry bookkeeping, or financial data modeling
- Proven experience scaling backend systems handling high transaction volumes
- Experience with GCP — Cloud SQL, Pub/Sub, Cloud Run
- Experience integrating financial/payment APIs
- Familiarity with PCI DSS, SOC 2, or similar regulatory frameworks
Nice to Have
- Real-time payments or instant settlement experience
- Experience in a high-growth fintech environment
