Senior Backend Software Engineer — Fintech Credit and Payments
Summary
Design and implement backend services for lending payments and account state, owning ledgering systems and building idempotent APIs, microservices, and event-driven workflows using Postgres and Redis.
You will design and implement backend services for lending payments and account state. You will own ledgering systems model financial data in Postgres use Redis in distributed workflows and build idempotent APIs consumers and jobs. You will define microservice boundaries ensure production observability and operate services through deployment monitoring debugging and reliability improvements.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement backend services for lending payments and account state
- Own and evolve ledgering systems
- Design event-driven architectures and orchestration workflows
- Build idempotent APIs consumers and jobs
- Model and persist financial data in Postgres
- Use Redis for caching locking and coordination
- Define service boundaries in a microservices architecture
- Ensure production observability with logs metrics and tracing
- Deploy monitor debug and improve service reliability
- Expose stable HTTP APIs
- Contribute to technical design reviews
Requirements
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience
- Direct fintech experience
- Background in credit lending or financial systems
- Experience with ledgering or accounting-style systems
- Experience designing event-based systems and asynchronous workflows
- Deep understanding of idempotency
- Strong knowledge of HTTP services and service-to-service communication
- Production experience with Postgres schemas transactions and migrations
- Experience using Redis in distributed systems
- Experience operating and debugging production systems
- Strong systems thinking and attention to correctness and edge cases
- Experience with payments rails is a plus
- Experience with crypto or stablecoin infrastructure is a plus
- DevOps or AWS infrastructure experience is a plus
- Experience with serverless architectures and AWS Lambda is a plus
- Experience with eventual consistency and failure tolerance is a plus
