About the role
We're looking for a Backend Developer (Java/Spring Boot) who will design and maintain core integration services powering data exchange between internal systems, banking platforms, and Azure cloud infrastructure for a leading employee benefits and corporate welfare provider in Italy.

The company is a leading provider of employee benefits and corporate welfare solutions in Italy, serving businesses of all sizes. Its offering includes digital meal vouchers, shopping and fuel benefits, corporate welfare programs, and solutions supporting employees' everyday needs and work-life balance. The business operates a large digital ecosystem connecting companies, employees, and an extensive network of affiliated merchants and service providers across Italy, combining digital platforms and mobile applications with a strong focus on convenience, employee wellbeing, and purchasing power.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain core integration services supporting customer data exchange between internal systems, banking platforms, and Azure services
• Generate XML files and handle file-based integrations
• Process asynchronous messages and manage data flows through Azure Blob Storage and Service Bus
• Implement resilient integration patterns such as retry, DLQ, idempotency, reconciliation, and error handling
• Provide strong troubleshooting and production support, and collaborate closely with the client's engineering team in Italy

Requirements

• 3+ years of Java backend development experience
• Strong hands-on experience with Java 11+, Spring Boot, Microservices architecture, and Event-driven systems
• Experience with XML processing, file-based integrations, and Azure SQL
• Practical knowledge of Azure Blob Storage, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Hub, and Azure DevOps CI/CD
• Experience implementing resiliency patterns: Retry, DLQ, idempotency, reconciliation
• Docker and Kubernetes (AKS) experience
• MuleSoft integration experience
• Italian language B2+ (candidate can be based in Italy or the EU, provided Italian is at least B2+)
• English language B2 minimum
• Willingness to travel occasionally to Italy to visit the client
