Backend Engineer (Java/Hadoop)

We are seeking a Backend Engineer to support a Hadoop data platform modernisation project. The role will focus on Java backend development, application enhancements, platform migration, testing, troubleshooting, and production support. Key Responsibilities Analyse existing applications, services, and batch processes to identify required changes. Develop and enhance Java backend applications, services, APIs, and integration components. Support Hadoop platform and data-layer modernisation activities. Implement application changes required for platform compatibility and migration. Perform unit, integration, system, and regression testing. Investigate and resolve application defects, performance issues, and deployment challenges. Support application deployment, release validation, and production stabilisation. Perform troubleshooting and performance tuning in distributed data environments. Maintain technical documentation and operational procedures. Work with development, QA, infrastructure, and architecture teams to support project delivery. Experience with Linux and shell scripting. Experience with software testing, troubleshooting, and production support. Experience supporting platform migration or application modernisation projects is an advantage.
