Backend engineer
Summary
Mechabits is hiring a backend engineer in Punjab, Pakistan to design and own the server side of client products — APIs, Postgres data models, auth boundaries, and background jobs — plus the observability and reliability work that keeps production stable, documenting systems for handover to client teams. Core stack: Node.js/TypeScript and/or Python with relational databases (Postgres preferred).
Design durable APIs, data models, and cloud services — with observability, migrations, and handovers client teams can operate.
You will own server-side foundations for client products: APIs, Postgres (or equivalent), auth boundaries, jobs, and the boring reliability work that keeps production calm. Ideal if you enjoy clear contracts with frontend/mobile and hate silent failures.
Responsibilities
- Design and ship APIs, services, and data models for production apps
- Own migrations, background jobs, and operational readiness
- Partner with frontend/mobile on durable contracts
- Improve observability, performance, and failure handling
- Document systems so client teams can operate them after handover
Requirements
- Several years building production backend services
- Strong experience with Node.js/TypeScript and/or Python APIs
- Solid relational database instincts (Postgres preferred)
- Clear written English for async collaboration
