Backend Engineer - NorthAm
- Real-time decision making with machine learning for risk assessments
- Ownership of risk infrastructure for Instant ACH in the US market
- Cross-functional collaboration with software engineers, data analysts, and data scientists
- Future-proofing risk systems to handle comprehensive risk types including Sanctions and AML
- Collaboration with US-based colleagues and occasional travel to the US
- Experience of 4+ years with Java, Kotlin, or other JVM-based languages with deep knowledge of the Spring framework
- Design of technical solutions optimizing for throughput and speed with p99 end-to-end latency under 1 second for real-time risk and fraud checks
- Deep understanding of JDBC, database internals, and query optimization
- Hands-on experience with Kafka, Kafka Streams, or Apache Flink for real-time event processing
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and designing scalable, resilient distributed systems
- Prioritization of work with customer focus using data to fix pain points
- End-to-end ownership of projects from idea to production monitoring
- Ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Experience in cross-functional collaboration with data scientists and data analysts
- Familiarity with machine learning basics including data pipelines, feature engineering, precision and recall
- Experience with OLAP databases or data lakes like Apache Iceberg with Kafka ingestion
- Salary range of 1,300,000 - 1,700,000 HUF monthly plus RSUs
