Backend Python Engineer
We're looking for a senior backend engineer to join a distributed team working on data-intensive systems at a large enterprise. You'll build and maintain Python services that integrate external APIs, manage data pipelines, and power internal applications. The role is fully remote and requires strong engineering fundamentals paired with solid data skills.
What you'll do
- Design and build REST APIs using Python and modern frameworks like FastAPI
- Integrate third-party APIs, handling authentication, pagination, error handling, and webhooks
- Work across multiple data stores, including PostgreSQL and Snowflake, writing efficient SQL and managing data flows
- Deploy and maintain applications on AWS using services like ECS, API Gateway, Step Functions, and Aurora
- Write comprehensive unit and integration tests to maintain code quality
- Manage infrastructure as code and CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions and Terraform
- Collaborate with distributed teams to solve complex technical problems
What we're looking for
- 5+ years of professional Python development experience
- Strong experience with a modern Python web framework, FastAPI preferred
- 4+ years working with SQL and relational databases like PostgreSQL
- Proven experience building and maintaining REST APIs in production
- Hands-on experience integrating external APIs and handling real-world integration challenges
- Solid data engineering skills, including experience with cloud data warehouses like Snowflake
- Experience deploying and running applications on AWS, using services like ECS, API Gateway, Step Functions, and Aurora
- Strong automated testing discipline, writing both unit and integration tests
- Comfortable working with CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions and infrastructure as code with Terraform
- Comfortable working in English
