Summary
Backend Software Engineer building mission-critical defence and security software at Copello in Romsey. Day to day: designing, coding, testing and documenting robust backend services in Python on Linux, using Docker, messaging/streaming (Kafka or Pulsar), Git, CI/CD, and Agile/Scrum practices. DV security clearance is mandatory.
In this Backend Software Engineer role you will deliver mission-critical software for defence and security, focusing on robust backend services. You’ll translate designs into production-ready code and contribute to reviews and architectural decisions. You’ll work within cross-functional teams to build, test, and document scalable backend systems using modern patterns. This is a hands-on position with real impact on national security and reliability in demanding environments.
