Backend Software Engineer

You'll be working with one of the most sophisticated and high-throughput distributed systems in the blockchain world. You'll focus on architecting and building new systems as well as improving existing ones for a platform that supports millions of users globally. You'll have the autonomy to shape technical solutions, influence architectural decisions, and own services throughout their lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend infrastructure, APIs, and services at scale.
• Own the architecture and implementation of distributed systems behind high-volume, low-latency APIs.
• Solve hard scalability, latency, and performance problems in live production systems.
• Lead system design discussions and shape the direction of backend architecture.
• Set the best practices for backend development—throughput, reliability, and latency.
• Validate performance through automated testing, benchmarking, and production-driven improvements.
• Trace production issues across services and the full stack, and ship fixes that durably improve reliability.

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
• BS/BA degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining core backend components.
• Ability to solve complex design, scalability, latency, or performance problems in high-throughput, low-latency production systems.
• Production experience with Java, Rust.
• Experience in cloud-native environments, particularly AWS.
• Experience with managed Kubernetes platforms such as Amazon EKS is a plus.
• Comfortable working across the stack, with a willingness to dive into infrastructure and platform challenges when the problem calls for it.
• Experience building highly available and scalable distributed systems.
• Web3 experience, a plus.
• Founded a company or built side projects, a plus.
• Experience in startups, a plus.
