Backend Software Engineer (Java)

Day-to-day responsibilities

• Agile, DevOps, cross-functional squad, distributed across Switzerland and Italy
• Very committed to quality and operational excellence
• Working on the backbone of the payment services (in Switzerland and international) with applications processing more than 20 million transactions every day
• Design, build, test, and maintain new features for cashless payments with state-of-the-art technologies
• Collaborate with product owners and business engineers to translate the clients’ needs into elegant technical solutions
• Write clean, well-documented, testable code and participate in code reviews
• Own deployment, monitoring, and incident response (3rd level support, on-call duty) for our components
• Improve performance, scalability, reliability and monitoring for our applications
• Contribute to the optimization of our deployment infrastructure and to the future technology roadmap

Who are we looking for

• Higher education in information technology (university degree or equivalent)
• Strong programming proficiency in Jakarta EE with fluency in relational databases and experience with Git, Maven, Quarkus, Docker, Kafka, Linux
• Team player and able break down complex problems and drive solutions
• Proven ability to work under pressure (e.g. major outages)
• Fluent in English. French, German or Italian is a plus
