Be-IT is hiring a hands-on mid-to-senior backend engineer for a fully UK-remote, initial 6-month contract to build APIs and backend workflows in Python and Django behind a redesigned client portal, covering REST APIs, auth/SSO, testing, CI/CD and AWS-hosted infrastructure.

We’re hiring a hands-on mid to senior Backend Engineer to build the APIs and backend workflows behind a redesigned client portal.
What you’ll do
- Design, build, test and maintain backend services and APIs in Python and Django
- Own work from refinement through to deployment
- Work closely with product, QA, platform and fellow engineers to shape practical solutions
- Make sound trade-offs across security, performance, cost and delivery
- Contribute to code reviews, testing, CI/CD and production reliability
What you’ll bring
- Strong commercial Python experience, with production Django (ORM, migrations, testing)
- Experience designing and delivering maintainable REST APIs on relational databases
- Good knowledge of authentication, authorisation, SSO and secure API design
- Experience with automated testing, CI/CD and diagnosing issues in live environments
- Understanding of cloud-hosted applications and infrastructure as code, ideally AWS
- Clear communication with technical and non-technical colleagues
Nice to have: FastAPI, PostgreSQL/MySQL, Docker, Celery, Redis, Sentry, Terraform/CDK, event-driven design, agile product teams
