Summary
Backend Software Engineer at the asset management division of a global Japanese bank in the City of London, building high-performance trading systems and cloud infrastructure on AWS. Day to day: Python backend development, DevOps/CI-CD, and owning projects end-to-end from design to deployment, on a hybrid schedule (3 days in office).
Salary: £40,000 - 70,000 per year
Requirements:- Advanced backend Python development skills
- Strong knowledge of AWS, DevOps practices, CI/CD, and containerisation
- Comfort with occasional front-end work
- Experience owning the end-to-end software delivery lifecycle
- Proactive approach to identifying and solving problems
- Experience working in Front Office trading environments
- Pragmatic with great communication skills
- Design and develop high-performance trading systems and cloud infrastructure supporting Front, Middle, and Back Office operations
- Work closely with traders, investment professionals, and business stakeholders to turn complex requirements into scalable, resilient technology
- Take ownership of projects from architecture and design through to deployment
- Build secure, highly available systems capable of processing significant volumes of market and trading data
- Help drive engineering best practice, automation, DevOps, and cloud adoption

This is a Backend Software Engineer / Developer opportunity based in our London, Bank office three days a week, with flexibility to work from home twice a week.
