Python Backend Developer

Summary

Build and maintain Python-based microservices for fintech systems, using FastAPI/Django and AWS (Lambda, CI/CD) to support scalable, high-throughput payment platforms.

The role is about

We are expanding our engineering capabilities and looking for a Backend Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will contribute to building and improving scalable backend services that support a range of internal and customer‑facing products. You will work in a high‑performance environment, helping to deliver reliable and efficient systems while collaborating closely with cross‑functional teams. Location: Remote from Poland (Contractor arrangement) or Cyprus Onsite (employment arrangement). Reporting to: Group CTO.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Python-based microservices in a distributed environment
  • Design and build scalable backend services with a focus on performance and reliability
  • Integrate third‑party APIs and external services into existing systems
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and DevOps teams to deliver new features and improvements
  • Work with AWS services (e.g. Lambda, cloud infrastructure) to build and deploy applications
  • Support deployments and system operations through CI/CD pipelines (GitLab)
  • Contribute to code reviews and follow engineering best practices
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in production environments
  • Contribute to improving system performance and handling increasing system load

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in backend development with Python
  • Experience with microservices architecture and RESTful APIs
  • Hands‑on experience with FastAPI or Django
  • Familiarity with AWS (e.g. Lambda, cloud services)
  • Experience with Docker and containerized environments
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab preferred)
  • Experience integrating third‑party APIs
  • Understanding of scalable and distributed systems fundamentals
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a remote environment
  • Experience in fintech, payments, trading platforms, or high‑volume systems
  • Exposure to event‑driven architectures (Kafka, message queues, etc.)
  • Experience working with high‑load or high‑throughput systems
