Barista / Café Staff

Saint Honoré is a Portland institution dedicated to the soul of French culinary arts. From the crunch of a perfect baguette to the delicate layers of our pastries, our goal is to bring the authentic taste of France to our neighborhood. We strive to create a warm, inviting space where time slows down and every guest feels the comfort of a true Parisian café.

Our neighborhood relies on us for a sense of reliability, predictability, and a familiar smile every morning. We are currently expanding our Guest Service team to ensure that every guest’s daily ritual remains a seamless highlight of their day.

You will love this role if you thrive in an environment that balances a fast pace with a true joie de vivre (joy of living). It’s a wonderful opportunity to work in a beautiful, aromatic setting where your daily efforts directly contribute to the community's happiness.

What You Will Do:

  • Greet every guest with genuine warmth, ensuring they feel like a regular from their first visit.
  • Master the POS system to process transactions with accuracy and a je ne sais quoi that keeps the line moving smoothly.
  • Craft beautiful coffee, espresso, and tea drinks, while also pouring wine and beer for our café guests.
  • Artfully plate pastries, salads, and sandwiches, ensuring every dish looks as good as it tastes.
  • Maintain the "stage" by keeping the counter, coffee bar, and dining area impeccably clean and organized.
  • Act as a local guide for our menu, offering thoughtful suggestions to guests looking to try something new.
  • Ensure our pastry cases stay full and looking like a work of art throughout the day.
  • Collaborate with the baking team to ensure a seamless flow from the oven to the customer’s hand.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • A high school diploma and a strong history of being reliable and predictable—our neighbors count on you!
  • Previous experience in customer service or as a barista is a huge plus, but a positive attitude is absolutely non-negotiable.
  • Must be 18+ (per OLCC regulations) and able to obtain your Oregon Food Handlers and OLCC cards by your first day.
  • The physical stamina to stay on your feet, move with grace in a busy kitchen, and lift up to 20 lbs.

The Interview Process:

We like to keep things as smooth as our café au lait. We will reach out to qualified candidates to schedule a short 15-30 minute video chat. From there, we will invite you in for an in-person meeting so you can see the bakery in action.

Pay & Benefits:

  • Pay Range: $16.30 – $17.30 per hour
  • Benefits: Medical, Dental, and Vision through Kaiser, Oregon Sick Pay, and Oregon Saves.
  • Perks: Delicious shifts (who doesn't love fresh bread?), a supportive team, and a vibrant culture that celebrates French tradition.
