Job Description: The Buck On Operator’s primary job duty is to meet work order requirements by being in control of the changeover and set up of the coupling makeup machine. This position is also responsible for power tightening couplings on a production line, and verifying that makeup meets customer and/or 5CT requirements. The Buck On Operator also operates and monitors the automatic full-length drift machine, and performs measurements with calipers and micrometers. This role also performs visual inspections of equipment and products.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for maintaining the speed of the drifting machine.
- Ensures that the machine is working properly to process pipes.
- Confirms that pipe dope is sufficiently supplied and all surfaces of the thread are in proper order to operate the machine.
- Responsible for coordinating with inspector, CNC operator, and other machine operators to ensure production runs smoothly.
- Responsible for reporting to shift supervisor any items that need to be repaired, replaced, or purchased.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Must be mechanically inclined.
- Must be able to work in a fast paced environment.
- Must have safety as a priority.
- May be required to carry out tasks not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this position in support of department objectives and to develop one’s skills.
