Summary

On-site technician handles receipt, storage, and safety checks of bulk chemicals, monitors distribution systems, and ensures compliance with hazardous-material regulations.

The Bulk Chemical Technician is responsible for the receipt, staging, storage, qualification, and unloading of bulk chemicals on site. Reports directly to the Shift Lead.

Pay: $20

  • Handle hazardous materials and chemicals safely.
  • Inspect and receive incoming chemical tankers and verify conformance of receipts.
  • Perform flagging and spotting for all drivers to deliver ISO trailers into designated staging areas for chemicals.
  • Perform daily inspections on chemical distribution systems and units.
  • Monitor and respond to alarms through bulk chemical monitoring systems. Update systems and trackers as needed.
  • Conduct incoming quality control inspections for material sampling.
  • Periodic preventive maintenance of chemical distribution equipment.
  • Follow all standard operating procedures and escalate any deviations or errors.
  • Monitor and escalate any abnormal conditions, including leaks, alarms, damage.
  • Monitor storage tank levels and manage the flow of materials into tanks.
  • Maintain bulk chemical offices, areas of operations, and equipment in compliance with SAS requirements.
  • Monitor for, escalate, and stop work as needed for safety issues, quality issues, and/or events where a standard procedure is unknown or cannot be followed.
  • Train new or inexperienced technicians in job duties through on-the-job training.
  • Comply with all site, Department of Transportation, and International Maritime Dangerous Goods requirements for shipment of hazardous materials.
  • Wear personal protective equipment, including class B chemical resistant suit and any other PPE assigned per SOP. Maintain and keep in good working order all assigned PPE.
  • Use and wear breathing- and supplied-air apparatus as required.
  • Attend and participate in twice-daily shift pass-downs and safety meetings as required.
  • Perform duties in all weather conditions, both inside and outside.
  • Provide customer service for Samsung WTR department, executing special request operations and providing updates and alerts as needed on chemical supply and quality statuses.
  • All other tasks and duties as assigned.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and others as needed)
  • Proficiency and accuracy in communications, scanning, and attention to detail.
