Business Analyst – Cyber Security Brisbane | 6-Month Contract + Potential Extension | Hybrid
An opportunity is available for an experienced Business Analyst to join a major cyber security program within a large Queensland critical infrastructure organisation.
This is a hands-on delivery role working across a portfolio of IT and Operational Technology (OT) security initiatives, alongside Project Managers, Security and Solution Architects, technical SMEs and business stakeholders.
You’ll be involved from early discovery and options analysis through requirements, solution design and implementation.
This role will suit a BA who enjoys technically complex projects, isn’t afraid to get into the detail and can confidently challenge thinking to help turn security requirements into practical, deliverable outcomes.
What you'll be doing
• Lead requirements gathering and analysis across cyber security projects
• Facilitate workshops with Security, Architecture, IT, OT and business stakeholders
• Undertake current and future-state analysis and process mapping
• Develop business and functional requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria
• Complete options analysis and support solution recommendations
• Work closely with Security and Solution Architects throughout solution design
• Identify project dependencies, risks, gaps and impacts
• Challenge requirements and proposed approaches where appropriate
• Support initiatives from discovery and design through implementation and testing
• Translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable requirements
The project environment Depending on the initiative, you'll gain exposure across areas including:
• Identity & Access Management (IAM) and Privileged Access Management (PAM)
• IT and OT cyber security
• SCADA and industrial environments
• Critical infrastructure security
• Vulnerability management and security controls
• Cyber resilience and remediation
• Essential Eight and ISO 27001
• Security governance and regulatory compliance
About you We're looking for an experienced technical or delivery-focused Business Analyst who can operate confidently in a complex technology environment.
You'll ideally bring:
• Strong Business Analysis experience across technology projects
• Previous exposure to cyber security, IAM, infrastructure, OT or similarly technical projects
• Strong requirements elicitation, process mapping and options analysis skills
• Experience working directly with architects, engineers and technical SMEs
• The confidence to question and constructively challenge technical stakeholders
• Experience taking projects from discovery through design and delivery
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and workshop facilitation skills
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work through ambiguity
Experience across IAM/PAM, OT/SCADA, cyber security, utilities, energy, critical infrastructure or highly regulated environments will be highly regarded.
You don't need to be a Cyber Security Engineer. We're looking for a strong BA with enough technical capability and curiosity to understand complex security initiatives, ask the right questions and help move them through delivery.
Contract: Initial 6 months with potential for extension
Location: Brisbane
Working arrangement: Hybrid, 3 days per week in the office
