Business Analyst
Summary
Infrastructure Business Analyst in Sydney driving a multi-site infrastructure transformation: auditing sites (servers, PCs, networking, CCTV), building replacement and support frameworks, and authoring Service Designs and operational documentation through to BAU handover. Heavy on ITIL, technical writing, and networking/comms exposure.
Role Overview
As the Business Analyst, you will play a central role in auditing, mapping, and standardising IT and physical infrastructure environments across multiple sites. You will conduct comprehensive end-to-end site audits—evaluating everything from cameras and servers to PCs, networking hardware, and core systems—and build a structured framework to determine replacement cycles, support contracts, and ongoing operational models.
This is a document-heavy role requiring meticulous attention to detail. Working alongside Network Engineers, Solution Architects, and Service Managers, you will be instrumental in defining Service Designs, maintaining Service Management & Operational documentation (including Service Level Agreements and SNOs), and ensuring a seamless operational transition.
Key Responsibilities
- Comprehensive Site Auditing: Conduct top-to-bottom physical and technical audits across multiple client sites, detailing CCTV/cameras, servers, desktop PCs, local peripherals, network comms, and active systems.
- Replacement & Support Framework: Translate audit outcomes into structured templates and data models that drive lifecycle replacement schedules, support contract alignments, and future maintenance plans.
- Service Design & Operational Documentation: Collaborate with Solution Architects, Infrastructure Engineers, and Service Managers to author high-quality Service Designs, Target Operating Models, and Service Needs/Options (SNO) documentation.
- End-to-End Delivery Management: Drive project streams through the complete lifecycle—from initial scope and conception, through requirements gathering and engineering alignment, to formal handover to BAU operational teams.
- Networking & Communications Scope: Ensure all networking and telecommunications infrastructure across the entire estate is captured, specified, and adequately supported under modern maintenance contracts.
- Stakeholder Management: Manage relationships between third-party hardware vendors, internal technical teams, and business unit leaders to ensure alignment on operational service handovers.
- Infrastructure BA Background: Proven track record operating as a Business Analyst within complex IT infrastructure, networking, and site-relocation/upgrading environments.
- Site & Asset Auditing: Demonstrated expertise in structuring and executing physical and logical site audits (PCs, servers, network kit, cameras, hardware estates).
- Document-Heavy Focus: Exceptionally strong technical writing skills with extensive experience delivering formal Service Designs, Operational Readiness Docs, and SNOs.
- Service Transition & BAU Handover: Clear understanding of ITIL frameworks, service design, and transitioning legacy estate setups into fully supported BAU operations.
- Networking & Comms Exposure: Direct experience working alongside Network Engineers and Architects on wide-area comms, local networking, and telecommunications deployments across whole sites.
- Template & Data Framework Development: Ability to design reusable reporting and gap-analysis templates to govern infrastructure replacement cycles.
- ITIL Foundation / ITIL Service Design certifications.
- BCS (ISEB) Business Analysis Certification or equivalent.
- Hands-on familiarity with infrastructure components (Active Directory, LAN/WAN, Server virtualisation, CCTV/security networks).
