Role summary

You are the bridge between the clients business process owners and the build team. You map how procure-to-pay processes really run today, measure the baseline, write requirements and acceptance criteria the client can sign, and turn prioritised problems into tested, working automation in production. This is a hands-on role: you build low-code workflows yourself, not just specify them.

Key responsibilities

  • Run discovery with client process owners: document current-state processes, systems, hand-offs, controls, volumes, cycle times and exception types.
  • Establish and measure the as-is baseline for each initiative and agree the source-of-truth data.
  • Write BRDs, user stories and acceptance criteria; size each request (small, medium or large) with effort, method rationale, benefit, risks and proposed delivery date.
  • Choose the simplest method that works: rules first, then low-code workflow, then AI or agents only where they add measurable value; document the rationale.
  • Build and configure workflows in Power Automate and Power Apps for prioritised items, working with the Automation and Document AI Engineers on more complex builds.
  • Prepare test cases, run functional and end-to-end testing, and support user acceptance testing with client users.
  • Assess change requests within 3 business days for effort, date and risk, and keep the change log and backlog current in Azure DevOps.
  • Re-measure benefits after go-live against the baseline and contribute to the monthly benefits report.
  • Prepare training material, quick-reference guides and knowledge-transfer sessions for each release.

Must-have skills and experience

  • Strong procure-to-pay knowledge: requisitions, purchase orders, goods receipt, three-way match, invoice processing and exceptions, accruals, budget and available-PO-balance tracking.
  • Proven process mapping and baselining (BPMN or equivalent), with measurable before-and-after outcomes.
  • Hands-on delivery of automation, preferably Power Automate and Power Apps; equivalent experience on UiPath, ServiceNow or similar is acceptable with a willingness to ramp onto the Microsoft stack within the first month.
  • Experience writing requirements, acceptance criteria and test cases, and supporting UAT to sign-off.
  • Confident working directly with senior business stakeholders in another time zone; clear written and spoken English.
  • Working knowledge of ERP or procurement platforms such as SAP, Oracle, Coupa or Ariba.

Good to have

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent process-improvement training.
  • Utility, energy or facilities invoice validation, or data center operations experience.
  • Azure DevOps for backlog and work-item management; Power BI for process metrics.
  • Exposure to AI-assisted document processing or agentic automation.

How success is measured

  • Baselines, BRDs and sizing notes delivered on time and approved by the client process owner
  • Benefits re-measured against the baseline for every solution you deliver
  • Committed milestones and work items delivered on the agreed dates
  • No open P1 or P2 defects in components you built at UAT sign-off and hypercare exit
  • Agreed test cases executed and passed before each release; low defect leakage to production
  • Deliverables accepted by the client first time, with complete handover documentation

Education

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, information systems, finance or a related field. Relevant Microsoft certifications are an advantage
