Business Development Director
About the role
Xin Cheng Group is expanding its commercial footprint across the Greater China region. The Business Development Director will own the regional growth agenda: opening new markets, building the partner and client portfolio, and converting market opportunity into signed, revenue-generating business. This is a senior individual-contributor-plus-leadership mandate reporting into the management team, with a direct line of sight to the company's regional P&L.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and deliver the regional business development strategy and revenue targets for Greater China (Mainland China, Hong Kong) alongside the Singapore base market
- Identify, qualify and close new business opportunities: prospecting, solution scoping, commercial structuring, negotiation and deal closure
- Build and maintain senior-level relationships with clients, channel partners, principals and distributors across the region
- Lead end-to-end contract negotiations, including commercial terms, pricing and partnership agreements, and steward them through to execution
- Conduct market, competitor and regulatory research for target markets; translate findings into a prioritized market-entry and account plan
- Develop a deep understanding of client pain points and feed structured requirements back to product, operations and engineering teams
- Represent the company at regional trade shows, industry forums and client meetings, including regular overseas travel
- Build, coach and manage a business development team as the regional portfolio scales
- Establish reporting discipline: pipeline hygiene, forecast accuracy, win/loss analysis and regular performance reporting to management
- Work cross-functionally with marketing, finance and legal to ensure deals are commercially sound and compliant in each jurisdiction
Requirements
- Minimum 6 years of business development, sales or commercial experience, including at least 2 years at a senior or leadership level
- Demonstrated track record of developing business in overseas markets. Candidates should be able to evidence specific markets entered, deals closed and revenue delivered outside their home market
- The position leads business development in Mainland China, and Hong Kong, where client meetings, commercial negotiations, tender submissions, contracts and day-to-day correspondence are conducted in Chinese.
- Proven ability to structure and close complex, multi-stakeholder commercial agreements
- Sound commercial judgement — comfortable with pricing models, margin analysis and contract risk
- Willingness and ability to travel regionally on a regular basis (approximately 30–40% of working time)
