About Retail Insight

At Retail Insight, we're transforming the way some of the world's biggest retailers and CPG brands use data, analytics and technology to make smarter decisions.

Our people are at the heart of what we do. We bring together talented people with different experiences, perspectives and expertise to solve complex problems, challenge the status quo and make a real impact for our clients.

We're growing, and we're looking for a Business Development Executive to join our Sales team.

About the role

We're looking for a commercially minded Business Development Executive to help us identify new opportunities, build valuable relationships and grow Retail Insight's presence in markets around the world.

You'll research prospective customers, markets and sectors, helping us understand where our solutions can make the greatest impact. You'll build and manage a strong pipeline of opportunities, engage senior decision-makers and work closely with colleagues across Sales, Marketing and the wider business to turn interest into long-term commercial partnerships.

You'll also represent Retail Insight at industry events and conferences, helping to raise our profile and develop relationships with retailers, CPG businesses and potential partners.

It's an exciting opportunity for someone who is curious, proactive and motivated by creating opportunities. You'll enjoy combining research and strategic thinking with relationship building, commercial conversations and hands-on pipeline management.

What you'll be doing

  • Researching markets, sectors and prospective customers to identify new business opportunities.
  • Keeping up to date with emerging trends, competitive activity and developments across retail, CPG, data and technology.
  • Building and maintaining a strong pipeline of prospective customers and commercial opportunities.
  • Reaching out to relevant stakeholders and senior decision-makers through a range of channels.
  • Developing relationships with prospective clients, understanding their challenges and helping to shape relevant solutions.
  • Supporting new business meetings, presentations, proposals and commercial negotiations.
  • Working with the wider Sales team to progress opportunities through the sales cycle.
  • Keeping opportunity data, activity and forecasts accurate and up to date in HubSpot.
  • Working closely with Marketing on campaigns, events and lead-generation activity.
  • Collaborating with teams across Retail Insight to make sure prospective clients receive a joined-up and engaging experience.
  • Identifying potential strategic partners and supporting relationships that could create new revenue opportunities.
  • Representing Retail Insight at relevant industry events, conferences and forums.
  • Tracking performance against agreed targets and sharing useful insights and recommendations with the wider team.
  • Occasional travel

What we're looking for

  • At least one year's experience in business development, sales, account development or a similar commercial role.
  • Confidence building relationships and communicating with stakeholders at different levels.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proactive approach to identifying opportunities, starting conversations and following up.
  • Good commercial awareness and an interest in understanding customers' challenges.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to turn information into useful commercial insight.
  • Confidence managing multiple prospects, priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience using CRM systems and maintaining accurate pipeline information.
  • An interest in using data, digital tools and AI to work effectively and make informed decisions.
  • A collaborative approach and the confidence to take ownership of your work.
  • A willingness to travel internationally for client meetings and industry events when required.
  • Fluency in a European language.

Bonus points if you also have

  • Experience within retail, CPG, technology, data, analytics or SaaS.
  • Experience working with HubSpot or a similar CRM platform.
  • Exposure to international business development or selling across different markets.
  • Experience supporting proposals, presentations or commercial negotiations.
  • A bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing or a related field.

Don't tick every box? That's okay. If the role sounds exciting and you think you could bring something to the team, we'd still love to hear from you.
