Salary: Base + Commission, no ceiling

Business Development Manager

The best growth doesn't always come from going head-to-head. Sometimes it comes from helping your customers win. If you're a senior BDM who can open executive doors, navigate Auckland's Enterprise and Corporate landscape and create revenue that strengthens partner relationships rather than competing with them, this is your role.

About Feenix Communications

Feenix is a New Zealand telecommunications company running a high-capacity, carrier-grade national and international IP and fibre network. We deliver wholesale and enterprise connectivity, peering, cloud interconnection and network services, and we use automation to make sophisticated telco services easier for customers to consume and manage.

Our philosophy is simple: create opportunities and solve problems for our customers, backed by long-term relationships and commercially sound solutions.

Feenix is part of Tū Ātea, a Māori-led telecommunications infrastructure and technology group shaping the future of connectivity in Aotearoa. Across the Group, capability spans spectrum and private 4G/5G, RF and transmission, physical infrastructure, IoT and automation, so we can look past a single product and solve the whole problem. The Group's commercial success also strengthens Māori ownership and participation in Aotearoa's digital future.

About the role

You will lead Feenix's growth across Auckland's Corporate & Enterprise companies, creating significant new business and building strategic relationships with senior leaders within those businesses.

A key part of the role is working alongside our customers and partners. You'll understand where they're bidding, identify how Feenix's network, infrastructure and wider group capability can strengthen their proposition, and help them win. At the same time, you'll develop complementary new revenue for Feenix, using sound commercial judgement to grow without undermining the relationships we've built.

What you'll do

New business and pipeline

• Create, develop and close significant new business opportunities

• Build a high-value, qualified pipeline and own its progression through to revenue

• Develop clear account and opportunity strategies for priority customers and prospects

• Provide accurate forecasting, commercial reporting and visibility of risks and next actions

Government and enterprise pursuits

• Support customers and partners responding to government and enterprise RFPs, tenders and procurement opportunities

• Coordinate the right Feenix technical, network, commercial and service inputs into each pursuit

• Position Feenix as the enabling partner behind our customers, strengthening their solution and ability to compete

Relationships and market presence

• Build senior and executive-level relationships across Wellington and nationally

• Work with the wider sales team to identify strategic growth within existing customers

• Represent Feenix at senior customer meetings, industry forums and networking events

• Support handover and ongoing growth of won relationships

About you

• Extensive senior B2B business development experience in telecommunications, ICT, technology, infrastructure or a related sector

• A proven record of winning significant, complex customer opportunities

• Strong executive-level relationship management and commercial negotiation skills

• Experience navigating RFPs, tenders, procurement processes and long sales cycles, ideally including government

• The commercial judgement to manage channel and customer overlap while growing revenue

• Strategic thinking backed by disciplined execution and follow-through

• Excellent written, presentation and stakeholder communication skills

• Able to work independently within a highly collaborative revenue team, with a willingness to travel nationally

Why Feenix

• A senior role with real ownership of Feenix's Wellington market presence

• Carrier-grade network capability and an established customer and partner ecosystem to build on

• The wider specialist expertise of the Tū Ātea Group to bring into every pursuit

• A high-performing, revenue-focused team

• Work that contributes to a broader purpose in Aotearoa's digital future
