Business Development Manager

We’re looking for an experienced and commercially minded Business Development Manager – MICE to join our Sales team on a 12-month parental leave contract, with a preferred commencement date of Mid-November 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive sales professional who thrives on building relationships, identifying new opportunities and converting high-value business. With a strong focus on Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events (MICE).

A little taste of your day-to-day:

  • Proactively source and convert new MICE business through cold outreach, networking, tradeshows and industry events.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with PCOs, venue finders, associations, meeting planners and key clients to drive repeat and new business.

  • Develop and implement sales strategies that grow MICE revenue, room nights and overall hotel revenue.

  • Identify new markets, business opportunities and partnerships to build a strong and sustainable sales pipeline.

  • Manage the sales process from lead generation through to conversion, negotiation and handover to the Conference & Events or Reservations teams.

  • Work closely with Revenue to maximise commercial opportunities through effective pricing, yielding and business mix strategies.

  • Represent InterContinental Adelaide at key industry events, networking opportunities, familiarisations and trade shows.

  • Monitor market and competitor activity, providing insights to support sales strategies and identify opportunities.

  • Track sales activity, conversion, pipeline and performance against targets.

  • Support and mentor junior Sales team members, sharing best practice and contributing to a high-performing commercial culture.

What we need from you

  • A degree, diploma or equivalent experience in Marketing, Business Administration, Hospitality Management or a related field.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a sales role within a multi-unit or similar hospitality environment.
  • Strong knowledge of sales principles, techniques and client management.
  • Experience working with international and regional clients, ideally with an understanding of multi-hotel brands and destinations.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of market trends and customer needs.
  • Excellent organisation, problem-solving and project management skills.
  • Confidence representing the hotel at industry events and working autonomously when required.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Opera and Delphi will be highly regarded.
  • A genuine team-first approach and the ability to support and develop those around you.
