Business Development Manager, Singapore
ABOUT SHARKNINJA
Our mission to positively impact people's lives every day in every home around the world allows our employees to be thinkers and tinkerers, designers and doers, creators and number crunchers, makers of things they love.
SharkNinja APAC is expanding and scaling rapidly. Our two brands, Shark and Ninja, have enjoyed unprecedented growth over the past five years, driven by a very strong innovation pipeline across both brands. Building on that success, SharkNinja APAC has embarked on a bold plan for growth in which Singapore and Malaysia play a critical role. We have taken these markets back from our distributors so that we can run them directly and drive strong growth behind innovation and investment.
This role exists purely to create business that does not exist today. There is no account list to inherit and no territory to maintain. Everything you deliver, you will have opened yourself.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Business Development Manager opens the Singapore business we are not yet in. New channels, new customer types, new routes to the consumer — corporate and gifting, hospitality and serviced residences, specialist and premium retail, membership and loyalty programmes, new partnerships and anything else that puts a Shark or Ninja product in front of a buyer we do not currently reach.
This is a hunting role, not a farming role. Success is measured in doors opened, revenue created from nothing and channels proven — and in the honest assessment of the ones that are not worth pursuing.
You will build the pipeline, make the approach, construct the commercial case, negotiate the terms and land the first order. You will then either build the channel into something repeatable or hand it over and move on, depending on what it becomes.
Because this is greenfield, the discipline matters as much as the energy. We need a pipeline we can see, a qualification standard that stops us chasing everything, and a clear-eyed view of cost to serve and margin on every opportunity.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Build and own the pipeline
-
Map the Singapore opportunity landscape systematically: channels, customer types, partnership routes and gifting or corporate demand.
-
Build a visible, qualified pipeline with stage definitions, values, probabilities and realistic dates — and keep it honest.
-
Set and apply a qualification standard so we pursue what is worth pursuing and stop the rest early.
-
Report pipeline and conversion weekly with a point of view, not just a list.
2. Open new channels and customers
-
Prospect, approach and convert new customers and channel partners — direct, not through intermediaries.
-
Build the commercial case for each opportunity: volume, margin, investment required, cost to serve and payback.
-
Negotiate terms that work at scale rather than terms that win the first order and lose money later.
-
Land the first order, deliver a clean onboarding and prove the channel before scaling it.
3. Own the corporate, gifting and B2B route
-
Build the corporate and gifting business — a natural fit for our products, a seasonal opportunity and one we barely touch.
-
Develop hospitality, serviced residence, property developer and premium workplace routes for the relevant categories.
-
Build the commercial and operational model this business needs: pricing, minimum orders, lead times, customisation and fulfilment.
-
Establish the annual gifting and corporate calendar and plan against it rather than reacting to inbound enquiries.
4. Prove or kill, honestly
-
Define what success looks like for each new channel before entering it, and hold to it.
-
Review every opened channel against its case at an agreed point, and stop the ones that do not work.
-
Be the person who says an opportunity is not worth the cost to serve, even after investing effort in it.
-
Document what was learned so we do not relearn it.
5. Work with the wider business
-
Work with Retail Excellence so any new physical presence meets our execution standard from day one.
-
Work with Supply Planning and Operations on stock, lead times and fulfilment implications before committing to a customer.
-
Work with the Head of Digital Commerce where an opportunity overlaps online, rather than competing with it.
-
Protect the brand and the price architecture — a new channel is not a reason to break either.
EXPERIENCE AND CAPABILITIES
Essential
-
6+ years in business development, new channel development or field sales in Singapore, with a genuine hunting rather than account management background.
-
Evidence of business created from nothing. Customers, channels or revenue streams you opened yourself, with the numbers attached. Inherited accounts grown do not count.
-
A real Singapore network across retail, corporate, hospitality or partnership channels, and the credibility to open a door cold.
-
Commercial case-building capability — can model volume, margin, cost to serve and payback and defend it.
-
Disciplined pipeline management. You can show us how you track and qualify, not just how you sell.
-
Evidence of walking away from an opportunity on commercial grounds.
-
Resilience and self-direction. Much of this role is unglamorous prospecting without immediate reward.
Experience might get you the interview. Mindset is what sets you apart.
