Position Summary / Objective -Midwest Market

The Business Development Manager – Industrial Sealing Solutions is responsible for driving revenue growth across the Midwest region, the most densely concentrated market in North America for pump manufacturers, rotating equipment OEMs, and industrial MRO distribution.

This role is focused on expanding UTEX’s industrial packing product lines by securing OEM specifications, developing regional distributor partnerships, and converting legacy sealing solutions to engineered UTEX offerings. The Midwest territory includes a high concentration of pump manufacturers, valve OEMs, and industrial end users across water and wastewater, chemical processing, mining, pulp and paper, food processing, power generation, and general industrial markets.

The position requires strong technical selling capability, comfort in specification driven environments, and the ability to build long cycle OEM approvals that generate recurring aftermarket demand.

This is an individual contributor role with direct accountability for new revenue generation, aftermarket pull through and establishing UTEX as a preferred engineered sealing partner in the Midwest industrial market.

Please Note – Ideal Candidate will be physically located in the Midwest such as Chicago or other large metropolitan area with major airport located nearby.


Job Responsibilities and Functions

• Develop and execute a Midwest regional growth strategy targeting pump OEMs, rotating equipment manufacturers, and key industrial accounts
• Identify and pursue specification opportunities with pump manufacturers and valve OEMs headquartered or operating in the Midwest
• Drive OEM approvals and product standardization that create long term aftermarket revenue streams
• Activate and expand Midwest distributor relationships through stocking programs, training, joint sales calls, and technical engagement
• Lead application driven conversions replacing commodity packing with engineered UTEX solutions
• Collaborate with UTEX application engineering to support product selection, trials, troubleshooting, and performance validation
• Balance long cycle OEM specification selling with shorter cycle MRO and aftermarket opportunities
• Build relationships with engineering, reliability, maintenance, procurement, and executive leadership within target accounts
• Develop and present technical value propositions, lifecycle cost analyses, and performance improvement cases
• Monitor Midwest market trends, competitive positioning, and pump manufacturer activity to inform strategy
• Maintain disciplined opportunity tracking, forecasting, and pipeline management in NetSuite CRM
• Provide regular updates on pipeline health, OEM approvals, and distributor activation progress
• Represent UTEX at Midwest trade shows, technical forums, industry associations, and customer events

• Develop deep technical knowledge of UTEX industrial packings, materials, and manufacturing capabilities
• Understand pump and valve sealing requirements common to Midwest based OEM markets
• Operate independently across a multi-state territory while maintaining strong internal collaboration
• Be comfortable working within manufacturing plants, mills, chemical facilities, and heavy industrial environments


Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related technical field preferred, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 to 10 years of industrial sales or technical business development experience
• Proven success selling engineered products into pump OEMs, rotating equipment manufacturers, or industrial MRO channels
• Experience with OEM specification selling and distributor development required
• Background in sealing solutions, pumps, valves, rotating equipment, or fluid handling products strongly preferred
• Experience using CRM systems and structured sales processes

Work Environment

This role operates throughout the Midwest region and requires frequent travel to OEM headquarters, distributor facilities, and industrial plants. Both office and industrial environments are expected.
