Business Development Representative
Posted Updated
This is an outbound role. You’ll open doors to law firms across the US that aren’t talking to us yet, and create the pipeline our Account Executives close. Your job is to find the firms that need Nexl, get the right people interested, and book meetings worth having.
Almost all of your day goes into outbound: researching firms, finding the marketing and business development leaders who feel the problem we solve, and reaching them by phone, email, and LinkedIn. Law firm leaders are busy and get pitched constantly, so generic outreach won’t work. Good research and a clear reason to talk will. You’ll pick up the occasional lead from our events and webinars too, but creating pipeline from scratch is the job.
You’ll be part of a team of BDRs working together in our Utah hub, led by a BDR Manager whose job is to coach you and help you grow. If you want to learn how complex B2B sales works and build toward an Account Executive role, this role is for you.
Responsibilities
Must haves:- 1+ year in an outbound SDR or BDR role, ideally in B2B SaaS, where you booked meetings from cold outreach.
- You possess resilience, taking rejection in stride and keep your activity and energy up.
- You write short, specific messages that get replies.
- You’re comfortable cold calling and having a real conversation when someone picks up.
- You enjoy researching a business and figuring out what matters to the person you’re contacting.
- Comfortable with AI tools and a CRM (we use HubSpot), and quick to pick up new ones.
- You ask for feedback and act on it.
Nice to haves:
- Interest in or exposure to the legal industry or professional services.
- Experience with HubSpot, Clay, Apollo, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, or a sales engagement platform such as Outreach or Salesloft.
- Experience booking meetings with senior decision makers.
What Success Looks Like
- First 30 days: You know our customer profile, our product, and the US legal market well enough to have your own sequences live.
- By 90 days: You’re fully ramped and consistently hitting your qualified meeting targets.
- By 12 months: You’re one of the team’s top performers and talking with your manager about what’s next.
Requirements
- Outbound prospecting: Your main focus. Research target mid-market firms (75 to 500 people) and run multi-channel sequences (phone, email, LinkedIn) to reach marketing, BD, and practice leaders who aren’t yet talking to us.
- Cold calling: Spend real time on the phone every day. It’s often the fastest way to get past the inbox of a busy law firm leader.
- AI-powered research: Use AI and tools like Clay to find buying signals, build your target lists, and personalize at scale, so more of your day goes on conversations.
- Qualification: Confirm the firm, the problem, and the people involved before booking time with an AE.
- Meetings that convert: Book qualified meetings and hand them over with notes the AE can use.
- Targets: Hit your monthly targets for qualified meetings held and qualified opportunities created.
- Event follow-up: Follow up quickly on the occasional lead from our events and webinars.
- CRM hygiene: Log every touchpoint and next step in HubSpot so nothing slips.
- Share what works: Feed what’s landing (and what isn’t) back to your team and Marketing.
