Business Intelligence Analyst
Summary
Community Housing Limited (CHL) in Melbourne is hiring a Business Intelligence Analyst to build and enhance Power BI dashboards, reports and data models that support data-driven decisions across the organisation. The core stack includes Power BI, DAX, Microsoft Fabric, semantic models, Power Query/M, SQL and SSRS.
As CHL’s Business Intelligence Analyst, you’ll provide BI and data analytics expertise to teams, programs and projects across the organisation. You’ll connect and combine data sources, develop reliable data models, and design dashboards, reports and visualisations that meet business needs. By translating complex information into accurate, compelling insights, you’ll strengthen employees’ ability to make data-driven decisions and help stakeholders understand and act on the information that matters.
You’ll make an impact by:
- Creating, maintaining and progressively enhancing reports, dashboards and other data visualisations in Power BI and other fit-for-purpose tools.
- Connecting and combining data sources, developing data models, and supporting strong data integrity and accuracy.
- Working closely with departments to gather data, understand business processes and key metrics, inform development work and troubleshoot issues.
- Analysing complex data sets to identify relevant trends, patterns and opportunities.
- Interpreting data and analysing results, including the use of appropriate statistical techniques where relevant.
- Identifying opportunities to improve data and BI processes and implementing practical, best-fit practices.
We’re looking for an experienced BI professional who combines deep technical expertise with curiosity, sound judgement and strong interpersonal skills. You will have ideally 3 - 5 years' experience in a likeminded role and be confident clarifying business needs, discussing potential solutions, troubleshooting issues and collaborating across departments to get things done. You’ll also bring excellent attention to detail and a commitment to data integrity, accuracy and continuous improvement.
To succeed, you’ll bring expert skills in Power BI and DAX, together with experience working with Microsoft Fabric, semantic models and data integration processes. You will also have experience in data extraction and transformation languages and processes - ideally Power Query, M language, SQL and/or SSRS. You’ll have strong capability in business intelligence, data visualisation, data analysis and interpretation, and the communication skills to turn business questions into clear, practical solutions.
You’ll model CHL’s values, vision and goals in how you work, maintain practices that support health and wellbeing, and promote a balanced and positive approach to work. You’ll also ensure all activities associated with the role comply with applicable work health and safety legislation, relevant state requirements, and CHL health and safety policies, procedures and directions.
Above else, we’re looking for people who bring our values to life every day:
- Teamwork – We collaborate, support each other and achieve more together.
- Integrity – We act with honesty, accountability and transparency.
- Service Excellence – We put people first, take initiative and strive to make a positive difference.
- Everyone Matters – We lead with empathy, respect and inclusion, valuing every person and perspective.
If you’re someone who builds trust, works collaboratively, takes ownership, cares about the people you serve and makes others feel valued, you’ll fit right in.
What’s in it for you.
