Summary

First IT hire for Great Wall Motors' Australia/NZ operations: a hands-on IT all-rounder providing end-user support (hardware, Microsoft 365, networks, access), running the help desk, coordinating vendors and external providers, and building out IT processes and business systems.

Salary: Competitive salary + 12.5% super + 10% Bonus

First in the department. Big on variety. Ready to make your mark?

Love solving tech problems, making systems work better and being the person people turn to when IT has other ideas? This could be your next move.

GWM is looking for a hands-on Business Systems & IT Support Specialist to become the first member of our IT department, supporting our people and technology across Australia and New Zealand.

This isn’t a narrow, stay-in-your-lane job. It’s an opportunity to roll up your sleeves, bring order to the everyday and help lay the foundations for our evolving IT function.

The opportunity

From troubleshooting a laptop to improving a business system or coordinating an external provider, you’ll bring technical know-how and a practical approach to whatever comes next.

You’ll keep things running today while helping shape better ways of working for tomorrow. Working with our Head of P&C & COO to start with (IT Manager to come), Head Office and external IT support provider, you’ll have partners to call on—and ownership of following things through.

Your day could include:

  • Keeping our people connected: resolving hardware, software, Microsoft 365, access and connectivity issues.
  • Making support work better: managing help desk requests, prioritising issues and keeping users informed.
  • Keeping systems reliable and secure: coordinating monitoring, maintenance, patching, backups and incident response.
  • Getting the essentials right: managing equipment, onboarding and offboarding, user access and practical documentation.
  • Connecting the dots: working with vendors and our IT support provider to get issues resolved.
  • Building what comes next: supporting system upgrades, strengthening processes and turning recurring problems into lasting improvements.

You’re an IT all-rounder—with a people-first approach

You’re technically capable, naturally curious and happy to get hands-on. You can switch between helping a colleague, investigating a system issue and improving a process without losing sight of what matters most.

We’d love to hear from you if you bring:

  • Broad, practical experience across IT support, business systems and infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, networks, server and cloud environments, security and access management.
  • Flexibility and adaptability: priorities will shift, the department will evolve, and you’re comfortable adjusting your approach.
  • Initiative and ownership: you spot what needs doing, take action and know when to call in specialist support.
  • Clear communication—you make technology understandable, not more complicated.
  • A relevant IT qualification or equivalent hands-on experience.

Experience with Pentana, system implementations or technology projects would be a bonus.

Why this role?

Variety. Ownership. The chance to build something.

You won’t be stepping into a fully established department with every process already mapped out. You’ll help create the foundations as GWM builds its IT capability—balancing everyday support with meaningful improvements.

If you’re an all-round IT whiz who enjoys change, likes helping people and wants to make a visible difference, we’d love to hear from you.

Apply with your CV and a short introduction telling us why this opportunity is right for you.
