The Runtime Platform is used by customers worldwide and serves as the technical foundation that enables LN applications to run across different operating systems, databases, and cloud environments.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will work on technically challenging projects focused on platform modernisation, cloud transformation, performance optimisation, security, and AI-driven software development. You will be part of an experienced engineering team and play a key role in the continued evolution of a core platform used by organisations around the globe.
- Design, develop, and maintain core functionality within the LN Runtime Platform.
- Contribute to strategic modernisation initiatives, including cloud-native technologies, AWS Aurora adoption, Linux migrations, and scalability-focused projects.
- Develop high-quality, reliable software supported by automated testing and technical documentation.
- Collaborate closely with Product Architects, Business Analysts, QA Engineers, and Software Engineers throughout the entire software development lifecycle.
- Analyse and resolve complex technical challenges related to performance, security, operating systems, databases, and platform integrations.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools and practices to further enhance productivity, code quality, and engineering efficiency.
- Actively contribute to the ongoing improvement of engineering standards, development processes, and platform capabilities.
- This role is based alongside the extensive Development team in our Barneveld office, which is local to Utrecht
- Must be based in the Netherlands
- Proven experience in software development using C and C++.
- Experience with systems programming, including areas such as memory management, multithreading, networking, inter-process communication, and operating system internals.
- Experience developing software on Windows and Linux/Unix platforms.
- Knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Shell, Perl, or PowerShell.
- Strong analytical skills and a structured approach to solving complex technical problems.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a development team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with Dutch strongly preferred.
- Interest in applying modern AI tools within software development processes.
- Experience with AWS services, cloud-native technologies, or large-scale distributed systems.
- Experience developing or maintaining runtime platforms, infrastructure software, middleware, database systems, compilers, or other systems-level software.
- Knowledge of PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, or Amazon Aurora.
- Experience modernising legacy applications and complex enterprise platforms.
- Familiarity with REST APIs, platform architecture, and scalability challenges.
- Experience with DevOps, automation, or cloud operations.
- Fluency in Dutch.
