Position Context
- The CAE Modeling, Morphing & Integration Engineer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and integrating high-quality CAE models to support vehicle development programs.
- The role focuses on FE model build, geometry preparation, morphing, model integration, and data management activities, ensuring robust simulation-ready models for Crash, Durability, NVH, Safety, and Optimization analyses.
Position Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain vehicle and subsystem finite element (FE) models throughout the product development cycle.
- Create high-quality CAE models from CAD data while ensuring compliance with established modeling standards and quality requirements.
- Perform geometry clean-up, defeaturing, meshing, and model preparation activities.
- Execute morphing and model-update activities to support engineering design changes and program milestones.
- Integrate subsystem models into complete vehicle CAE assemblies for multiple vehicle programs.
- Support Crash, Durability, NVH, Safety, and Optimization teams with simulation-ready models.
- Conduct model quality checks and ensure model integrity, connectivity, mass accuracy, and component representation.
- Manage CAE model releases, configurations, and version control.
- Collaborate with Design, Vehicle Integration, and Analysis teams to resolve geometry and modeling issues.
- Support development of CAE modeling standards, processes, and automation tools.
- Identify opportunities to improve model build efficiency and simulation turnaround time.
- Support benchmarking and best-practice implementation for CAE model development.
Requirements
Education / Professional Knowledge
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in automotive CAE modeling and finite element model development.
Skills & Experience
- Strong knowledge of finite element modeling principles and automotive vehicle structures.
- Experience with CAE pre-processing and modeling tools such as:
- HyperMesh
- ANSA
- Meta
- Strong expertise in:
- FE Model Build
- Meshing Techniques
- Geometry Cleanup
- Model Assembly and Integration
- Morphing and Model Updating
- Connections and Joint Modeling
- Mass Management and Model Quality Control
- Experience supporting multiple CAE disciplines including:
- Durability
- NVH
- Safety
- Familiarity with solver environments such as:
- LS-DYNA
- Nastran
- Abaqus
- Good understanding of automotive BIW, chassis, closures, interior, and battery system architectures.
- Experience working within PLM environments such as Teamcenter or 3DEXPERIENCE.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional and global engineering environment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in EV vehicle development programs.
- Knowledge of CAE process automation and scripting (Python, TCL, or similar).
- Experience supporting global OEM or Tier-1 automotive development projects.
- Understanding of CAE model correlation and validation processes.
